ESPN, more accurately - Bill Williamson, was really laying it on Javy Arenas. After reading this, I wonder what his role will actually be in Arizona? Could he end up being the 4th/5th corner off the bench when not returning kicks?

He's gonna be the slot CB, he graded out tied for the 11th best in the league for '12 in the slot. Not great, not bad(same goes for his return career). Cardinals didn't have one, and even Peterson didn't do well when they asked him to play the slot.

Pioli shouldn't have spent a 2nd on a return specialist and slot corner with average speed...

Would it be wrong to assume Javy Arenas and Antoine Cason will battle it out for that position? Obviously Javy Arenas won't be put on an island out wide, and I can't see Antoine Cason beating out Patrick Peterson or Jerraud Powers for one of the starting spots. Seems like both of them underwhelmed for their former teams.

Can't say I don't disagree. They just had a love for SEC players.

I just find it funny that this is the first I've heard of this former Bama fan favorite in nearly 4 years.

Well, he was playing in Kansas City. Not a whole lot to talk about with that franchise.

Outside of Jamaal Charles and D. Bowe both being monsters there really isn't.

And what 2 wins?

FWIW their D is actually legit and I believe Smith will help their O become much less shitty. Charles is an absolute beast and Bowe has the potential to be a top 10 WR in the league.

You can have good talent and not win football games. Look at the cowboys and eagles the last few years

They might shock the NFL and reach double digit wins this year now that they have a head coach with a pulse.

Talent is not the problem with that organization.

Yeah but there is a big different between having talent and going 8-8 or 7-9 and having talent while going 2-14.

Arenas is purely a slot CB, it's Flowers and Cason that will be battling it out for the job across Peterson. Neither of them have actually lit the league up at CB to be guaranteed a starting spot. Cason gives up 1st downs, Powers gives up yardage.

The loser will likely be the main backup, which is not to be confused with the slot CB. He backs up both CBs, but is not the slot CB.

Their problems definitely begin at the top. I never said they didn't have talent.

No QB, no coach and a dline that doesn't fit your scheme. That's why they went 2-10.

A lot of that has been fixed this coming year. Or at least it would seem

But I agree with everything your saying

I think they will be at least 8-8 with Reid. Well, as long as Smith doesn't completely suck it up.

If Smith can be just competent, with Jamal Charles and Bowe they could make some solid noise

They are both already there pretty much, you realize Bowe caught 15 TD's in 2010 right?

Yeah but the last 2 years he's struggled because of the QB's, much like Fitz in Arizona.

FWIW My top 10 receivers would be:

1. Calvin Johnson
2. Larry Fitzgerald
3. Brandon Marshall
4. AJ Green
5. Andre Johnson
6. Julio Jones
7. Demaryius(SP?) Thomas
8. Wes Welker
9. Dwayne Bowe
10. Marques Colston

Wrong, you don't put someone back there at PR or KR who is that valuable to the defense. And for my money I'll take Javy doing returns over TM.

Atleast Javy has fielded a kick/punt in the NFL, which is more than enough reason to choose him over TM. And just so you know I think TM is a talented MOFO.
