The 85% Set to Invade Atlanta this Weekend

The vast majority (myself not included) of Alabama fans I know that religiously attend most Alabama games come hell or high water have decided to sit this one out and have sold/given their tickets to members of the 85%. I can't blame the road warriors for wanting to take a breather with this being our 4th biggest game in the past month behind LSU, MSU, and Auburn, and hopefully New Orleans and Dallas on the horizon. I'm also glad that some folks that don't usually get to go to games will have a chance to attend a game the magnitude of an SEC Championship, but I just hope Atlanta is ready for an influx of the 85%. Krystal and Centennial Park will need security on high-alert. Mizzou fans - I'd recommend hanging out with members of the 15% in Buckhead and when you do encounter the 85%, refrain from Updyke jokes. They are his people.
On a related note, I bet Atlanta-area scalpers and ticket brokers that usually make a killing off the SEC Championship Game aren't exactly thrilled with the playoff system. I'm sure they'll make up for it every 3rd year with a semi-final in Atlanta, but the playoff is going to really hurt the secondary market for the SECCG, especially in years when one team is a lock if they get a win over a team outside the top 15 in Atlanta.

The excitement of the 2008-2009 SEC championship games feels like forever ago now.

The East really needs to get a strong team in there.

Yes, come join the 15% in Buckhead, VaHi and Decatur.
Wait no don't, join the 85% in Sandy Springs and Marietta at their Applebee's Bars.

Don't worry it will be 85% on 85% crime.

Yea if it's acts of extreme violence they go after each other, so Mizzou fans should be ok. Just ignore them and let them go at each other.

Would it be safe to get some video from a distance?

Yea but then you might be called to testify in a 1st-degree murder trial.

From any distance over 10 yards you should be fine. Obese people don't move well.

It will be just like an A-Day Game, but the tickets will not be free.

The 85% are in Dallas, Douglasville, Canton, McDonough, etc...

I can't believe I'm going to agree with you on something, but the SEC Championship crowd will certainly have some A-Day aspects to it. Frankly it might be more A-Day like than any regular season game the past few years not including 1-AA games.

I meant they will all show up and if they spend the night stay up in the suburbs. You know, to stay away from all the "scary people" in the city.

Attendance at the SECCG will probably suffer due to the new playoff system. All of my Bama buddies are sitting the game out this year to save money for the semifinals and finals.

Damn. You brought something up that I don't think the playoff system thought about: attendance. How in the hell are fans going to attend two bowl games in different cities? And for those who have conference championship games it'll be even harder. That may well create a attendance issues for the playoff system, especially since this isn't the 90s economy where money was falling off trees and damn near everyone had a surplus of cash even if it was just a small surplus.

That is why you see FSU at #4.

Putting all their eggs in one basket I see.

Because they won last year and there's less reason for them to want to travel again?

If TN ever gets back in it in the next couple years it will be a HOT ticket.
