Was a lot like the situation with Georgia and Richt. Good coach, just not the guy who was gonna take Texas to the next level. Their main issue was hiring a guy who’s offensive game plan is eerily reminiscent of Mark Fox’s. Defensive rule change also hurt (Shaka) Smart.

Barnes played to his seed almost every single year iirc.
Seemed to lose his touch after that fricking yall got against Zona but did he really flame out as a high seed often? No evidence of it.

Fair or not, in college basketball you are judged by your tournament success. Barnes is a decent coach but 1 Final Four in 17 years at a resource-rich school is really underachieving. I'm still perplexed at how he wasn't able to get out of the first round with a transcendental talent like Durant.

Have you watched their other teams? It's not the coach, it's the Admin and BOD.
