What is the deal about "cost after receiving grants" ? Is that like the "cost of groceries after using Food Stamps" ?

A&M is one of the top universities in the nation for ROI.

They got a give a discount to get people to go to that desert dust of a state.

Yeah it's a damn shame they can't field a decent football team.

While I agree that Texas A&M is an excellent school, a big contributing factor is the relative salary to cost of living in Texas. Housing cost is some of the lowest in the country. If you live anywhere near the petrochemical industry along the gulf coast, you can make over $100K with no college degree if you work construction or get a job in one of the plants.

Good bit of bullshite here
To make 100K without a college degree in those fields you'll still have to have some sort of trade and work a ton of overtime
And if you live inside the loop in Houston it's not that cheap. Median home price in Houston is 320K which is well above the national average.
Houston is just cheap relative to the big west coast and north east coast markets.

90% of those jobs will be automated in the next 10-20 years.
Enjoy.
If you can't write code or heal people, you are in deep deep shite.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You should get out of Arkansas some time. Operators and maintenance staff in refineries, though they regularly work lots of overtime, easily make over $100K. The plant control systems have used DCS automation for decades, but operators and maintenance crews must work in the field. Yes, many jobs require certifications that require trade schools, but if you aren't afraid of sweating and can live without getting stoned all the time, you can make excellent money.
Those jobs aren't going away any time soon.

Apparently you didn't check out the schools at the top of the list.
Don't be ugly.
Just nod, say, "good deal," and move along.

A&M funnels a lot of jobs into Houston, which is a substantial job market. Grads are successful in finding gainful employment.
A&M is impressive in a lot of ways, but College Station is a dump. Bryan isn't much better. That's its biggest drawback. But as an engineering school, it's likely the best in the SEC by a fair margin.
