LaGrange College in Georgia won its fifth consecutive conference title in baseball yesterday. The Panthers are ranked No. 4 in the nation.

After the game, two of their players were killed in a car accident. It was just announced that they are hosting a regional, but they may not play.

2 freshmen pitchers. One was the winning pitcher in the conference title game.

I saw that. Looks like the winning pitcher was passing somebody and struck a car coming the other way head on, killing himself and his passenger and the other driver.

I’m not badmouthing the kid. That could be me making that horrible choice, or one of my teenage children making that choice. But you better believe I’ll show this to my kids and beg them to take care when passing.

Definitely. That could have been any of us. No one was drinking, no one was speeding, just a bad driving decision.

Facebook post from family of the other person that was killed:

"??All I am hearing on the news is about these two boys that just had won the state championship in Baseball that killed my nephew Rico Dunn! Let me tell y’all about Rico since the news can’t tell y’all! Rico lost his mother and father at a early age, he struggled with school after such tragedy but he came to Atlanta where he received his high school diploma! Rico loved anything that contain outside wildlife, fishing was his life, he loved dogs, fish, turtles, snakes anything could be his pet! Rico was a very care person that would do anything for anybody whether he knew how to do it or not he would try! No my nephew didn’t win a baseball championship, but he won a lot of people heart, but the point of this is to say my nephew life was cut short by to boys that was driving wreckless that have been made superstars, and I am not getting this part!!!????????"

Just a terrible situation all around.

It is at points where the curves and/or terrain make it difficult to do so safely, hence the double yellow lines.

Unfortunately, too many people don't pay attention to when you're allowed to pass and when you're not, and then to be damn careful even when you are.

I can't imagine the pain. My son and his team just qualified for the D2 Natl Tourny and for something like that to happen would be beyond crushing. Prayers to them all

Absolutely horrible. Had a HS classmate pass away just a few weeks ago doing the exact same thing. Terrible story.

So both superstar boys were driving? Cmon Rico’s aunt. Your nephew was killed by the same driver who killed the passenger in his own car. He, unfortunately was along for the ride.

I have a Lagrange college t-shirt. Got it at the thrift store. Once of my favorite shirts.

Sorry to hear about this tragedy.
