This is bad. The new AD is in way over his head.

Come back and talk to me after 3 recruiting cycles with Heupel.
Then we can talk about rock bottom.

Steele would have been the better "place-holder" option

This would be my concern if God had forsaken me and I had been born into a family of Vols. The sanctions aren't even in place yet and he's a terrible recruiter.

Outside of Tony Elliot, who seemed to be the only actual glimmer of hope, who else was it going to be?
I don't understand choosing Heupel over Steele. I'd imagine it's a comfort level move by White.
I've said it in other threads, a coordinator with an actual pulse for recruiting would've been a better choice in my mind.
Three recruiting cycles with Heupel is gonna be hellacious.
