Nope, he is going to OL, so be sure to tell your team next year so we can get that guy off the field.

im not trying to say everyone is like that, but every religion has people like that. i just think its a cheap shot for that dude to bring Jesus into the equation and i felt you were defending him for that.

some people are like that and do it just bc its the "cool" thing to do. I try to look past religion when i want to know if someone is a good person or not. Myself i find the notion of if you are a good person but don't believe in this religion you are going to hell as silly.

I know what you're saying, but all I can suggest is don't let the actions of some determine what you believe. Everyone will eventually be judged on their own actions and not what they think of someone elses. I'd just suggest not following man, but read and learn and follow where your heart and mind is led to go.

nahh. I wasn't. And I'll admit, I get offended when folks use his name in vain. However, as a christian (and again, not always a good one) it's just up to me to let folks know about him. After that, it's up to the individual to accept or not and arguin ain't gonna do anything to change it. Like many parables, when folks came to him. He told them what they needed to do, if they didn't, he didn't stay and argue with em. He moved on to help who were open to His word. That is where alot of Christian's lose sight I think. It's ok to discern how much you try to help folks. Don't waste time for those that reject and use time wisely to help those that need it.

That's a canned response towards religion. Yeah, folks who are religious still sin. Just because they try to spread the word about not sinning doesn't mean they don't and doesn't mean they're being judgemental. Just trying to express their views about things. It's like the folks that go to church and get pissed because the preacher preaches about alot of vices and such. Folks take it personal, but that is what the teachings are. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean folks are thinking they are better.

I actually am Christian, but I grew up in a town that was pretty much controlled by the Southern Baptist preacher. We lived in a dry county, and when there was a petition to vote for alcohol, the priest got his hands on the petition, and told every member of his church who signed it to leave the church immediately. He openly judged promiscuous people and people who had had sex before marriage as blasphemous before God, but what he didn't say was that he was a hypocrite because his daughter was the biggest whore in school, quite literally. Also the bulletin board outside the church said "Jesus didn't drink whiskey", but he certainly drank wine. He later countered that alcohol hadn't been invented yet, despite it talking numerous times in the bible about drunkenness.

Being religious is one thing, but viewing it as a world of absolutes is another, which is what fundamentalism is. It clouds ones judgements and makes them blind to their own shortcomings.

say you are religious, you are obviously stating that everyone who does not agree with your religious views are wrong. in some cases this makes people believe they are better than the next. growing up in GA this was very evident when it mattered what church you belonged to. didnt matter what religion you were it matter that you were a member of this church that cost this much more than that one to be a part of.

Not neccessarily. I'd say I am religious, but certainly not a fundamentalist.

Therein lies the mistake made by many, imo. While it's true many people are like that, it is not a true reflection of a christian, because Christianity teaches selflessness and folks that do that are not doing what they should be. Using others' failings shouldn't be an excuse to not do better yourself, imo. (and I'm not looking down at anyone.. I fall wayyyyyyy short of where I should be myself.)

Agreed, but the thing that these hypocrites fail to realize is they are no better than the Pharisees. They use God's word to manipulate their will upon the congregation and friends, and try to make the world revolve around their teachings.
