Tennessee has appeared in the weekly AP Top 10 just 3 times out of the last 235 poll releases, dating all the way back to the last few weeks of the 2006 season.

Only 13 of the 65 other Power 5 programs have made fewer appearances in the Top 10 than the Vols. They are: Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, NC State, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

Teams that have the same or more appearances in the Top 10 as Tennessee during the same period of time include Kansas, Oregon State, Washington St., Indiana, Georgia Tech, and Boston College

Question for Tennessee fans: At what point was the bottom? Or has bottom yet hit?

I figure the bottom would be if we go over forty years without a national title.

If they get hit with significant sanctions, the bottom is still on the horizon.

So this...

quote:

Only 13 of the 65 other Power 5 programs have made fewer appearances in the Top 10 than the Vols. They are: Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, NC State, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

Literally answers this:

quote:

Teams that have the same or more appearances in the Top 10 as Tennessee during the same period of time

Because the answer is:

Everyone but Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, NC State, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

Yes because everyone would rather choose your current state over finishing in the Top 10 every year. Maybe your next coach won't have a losing record to Vandy.

ngl AU has basically wallowed for a decade in mediocrity since Glendale (outside of two crazy ends of November) as a direct result of the NC (== hiring Gus) and you could probably take all four of those games away and it would have still been worth it

They haven't finished in the top 10 since the 01 season. That's insane.
