Tennessee fans, what the heck happened to this guy as others were targeting his twitter handle? Is it really that bad in Tennessee?

This is not Tennessee specific. Social media handles like that are often seen as a status symbol for hackers. I listened to a podcast with a girl whose life was almost ruined because her Snapchat was @bicycle or something like that

Interesting story, but doesn't belong here.

Mark Herring, 60, owned the Twitter handle @Tennessee. According to Newsweek, he chose the handle when Twitter was in its infancy because he loved his home state and the Tennessee Volunteers.
Over the years, Herring received many offers to sell the Twitter handle, but he always refused. Sometimes, a prospective buyer would get disgruntled at his refusal to sell.
Let the record show that Award Winning SECRant user Tuscaloosa’s SECRant handle, “Tuscaloosa” is up for sale. I will send my password to the highest bidder.

It should be made permanently unavailable after this.

One of the kids responsible is from the UK and likely won’t be extradited due to being a minor last I read.

Whatever the current punishment for swatting is they should double or triple it.

That's more of an indictment on the police state we're living in, that law enforcement could be used as a tool to murder an innocent person in their own home

So blaming cops for once again ppl committing crimes?
Have you ever once told a cop how you feel or do you just trash them because the TV told you to?

He died of a heart attack when they showed up. He wasn't shot or anything like that.
Reading the articles is usually a good idea.

My best friend is a cop in Birmingham. We have these discussions frequently.

You are blaming the police for showing up to a reported murder? Really?

If social media ceased to exist starting tomorrow, Especially Facebook and Twitter, the world would instantly become a better place.

This is in such poor taste. Do better. Be better.
