Edit - As funny as this is, it appears to be un-true. I see no ranking where Tennessee fell.

Doesn't matter really, unless you are a rankings person. It's all about March.

Duke has more wins against higher ranked teams, is #2 in BPI, #1 on KenPom, #2 in NCAA NET rankings. Tennessee is somewhere around #4 on most of these lists. Duke's metrics are better. If they were #1 I don't think anyone would have a strong argument against it outside of straight up W-L. Tennessee can make a statement here in the tail-end of the schedule, and road wins against Kentucky and LSU would really help our case, but our schedule had been soft earlier in the season and we haven't utterly dominated throughout this easier portion.

Right, but I said throughout. The average is still good but there are individual games where we looked pretty rough. You aren't going to blow out every team, but there was a stretch of 3-4 games that went to the wire or OT. Duke just destroyed #3 UVA @ UVA. We went to OT with #130 Vandy @ Vandy. Granted, Duke also lost to 'Cuse at home, but I still think it could be argued that they have looked better than we have.

Nevertheless, we still #1. VOLS, BITCHES!

Tenner, just remember, in March you still have to beat North Carolina in the Elite Eight to do anything. Book it. The Committee is going to set up UT/UNC as 1-2 seeds and you will have to deal with it.

The way rankings work, if Tennessee and Duke both win out, Duke will never pass Tennessee for number 1.
