LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - A grand jury has indicted a Lee County teen on two counts of reckless manslaughter following the deaths of Rod and Paula Bramblett, according to new court documents.
An arraignment for Johnston Taylor has been scheduled for Jan. 30 while court documents indicate a trial is set for May 4.
According to an affidavit, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency analyzed data and determined Taylor’s Jeep was accelerating from 89 mph to 91 mph, with no signs of any braking, when he hit the back of the Bramblett’s Highlander on May 25.

Wow, it's honestly amazing he survived the crash hitting them at 91 MPH. I assume he's being tried as an adult? (hope so)

Probably because he was high AF.

Hasn't he had repeated issues showing almost no remorse or showing that he actually learned from his mistakes? Seems like a sociopath.

He's going to learn a very hard lesson especially considering other "driving issues" after the accident that killed the Bramblett's.

generally speaking, hitting someone dead on at that rate of speed results in, at minimum, serious injury. He's very lucky he came out unscathed, but looks like, hopefully, he'll come out on the other side in prison stripes for a long time

yep, believe he has been ticketed twice for reckless driving AFTER this incident. How his license hadn't been immediately suspended is shocking and sad

Try him as an adult & let him play with his new friends.

Gonna meet some unhappy Auburn fans in the ADOC which is already a terribly ran, underfunded, understaffed, and severely overcrowded prison system

If we’re just going to arbitrarily decide who is or isn’t a minor, then we should just do away with a juvenile justice system altogether. Or any sense of justice for that matter.

It was more of a glancing blow, where he ended up across the intersection.
Which, in a terrible twist of fate, allowed him to survive and more caused the deaths of the Brambletts, by their head and necks to whip back at an angle missing their head restraints.
Had the crash occurred head on( or rear on) the kid would have absorbed a more than likely fatal amount of energy and the Brambletts head and necks would have snapped back directly to the Toyota's head restraint, possibly saving them.

juveniles are only subject to waivers to be tried as an adult under certain circumstances. That doesn't mean we need to get rid of the entire juvenile justice system. But for serious crimes like homicide and for minors who are older (16 in this case), I have no problem with them being tried as adults. Why should a sociopathic kid like this who killed two people without any regard for following the law only go to jail for a few years because he was 16 instead of 18? And it's become pretty damn clear that this kid has zero remorse based on his behavior since the accident.

damn, didn't realize that. That's incredibly sad

sure you technically have a point, but driving is an adult activity. if you get a license at 16 and commit a criminal act while driving, you ought to be tried as an adult every time.
