Alabama has never done this, but we have managed to get a series cancelled for excessive fan violence in the stands.

Which one? Sr or Jr? Maybe I blocked that out. One of those bad experiences I don't want to remember, watching fans act like, well... regular fans.

I seem to remember some folks hopping that chain link at the Old Grey Lady after Van's kick. I could be wrong as that was a lonnnnnnngggg time ago.

Maybe. I don't remember to be honest. I hope not. I need something else to look down on other fans for.

There used to be a ton of people on the sidelines back then too. It may have made it look like fans clamoring for the field.

It wasn't a true "flood the field" moment, I just remember seeing a few folks that weren't in uniform or in support staff wear running around.

Following the final gun, the fans at LSU's Tiger Stadium, which is known as "Death Valley," flooded the field and ripped down the goalposts within two minutes.

That was the first time I believe that ever happened in Tiger Stadium.

When we did it in 2000 when we barely beat a 3-6 Bama team, I was kind of embarassed. We hadn't beaten them at home since the 60s, but they were 3-6. I think that might have been the last time the goalposts came down. After that, the school and Saban let it be known that it wouldn't be tolerated going forward.

And LSU lost to us in Death Valley the next weekend

That was my 21st birthday. It was a JP game with an 11:30 am start. I personally floated our tailgate keg after the game ended. I definitely hated Ole Miss that day.

I remember DiNardo's radio show between the Florida and Ole Miss games. He warned the fans that LSU lost to Tennessee the week after Billy Cannon's infamous run and that we better be focused on the next game (Ole Miss).

We tried to tear down State's goalpost back in the 1920s and a huge brawl broke out. That's why the egg bowl trophy was created.

I wish Auburn fans would have pulled down LSU's in '99 just to add to the whole cigar thing and really piss them off.

I helped tear down the goalposts when we beat Florida my junior year. They actually sucked so it's kind of embarrassing but it was fun as hell. When you tear em down during the early SEC game, the rest of the day is about as fun as it can get.

I'm assuming you mean 2004 and not 1999?

My first game in Tiger Stadium was against Tennessee in 00 when they tore the goal posts down. I was only eleven and had never seen so many people in my life. Sat at the very top of the old west upper deck.

SC did it vs UGA in 2000. Would've done it a couple times over the last few years I'm sure had the SEC rule not been put in place and so strictly enforced.

I remember Carolina doing it against New Mexico State, after that 21 game losing streak ended.

Yes and the week after was that UGA game. I remember the University being pretty strict on making sure it didnt happen again for at least a while because as it turns out replacing goal posts on a weekly basis could get pretty expensive.
