I'd respect this kid a bit more if he made this move. He's got the ball skills. This might be his ticket to playing on Sundays.

The transition from quarterback to wide receiver isn't exactly common, but it has happened plenty of times before. “It’s just one of the many directions someone can go when they’re an undersized quarterback who is also really athletic,” Simmons said on The College Football daily podcast. “[National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins] has seen Tate more than anybody. He was talking about how he’s seen Tate running around catching passes at quarterback camps. He’s got natural pass-catching ability. The ball skills are there. He is very athletic. He is sudden and has some twitch and body movement to his game. That short-area quickness was one of the best qualities he had. As a slot guy that could create space and get separation as a route runner, there’s a lot of those guys with success in all levels of football right now. I’m not saying that’s where he needs to go, but in the spectrum of options, you have to include that as one of them.”
Martell clocked a blazing 3.96 in the 20-yard shuttle the summer before his senior season at Bishop Gorman. He added a 36.8-inch vertical jump. For a comparison, current Miami wide receiver Mike Harley, who operates primarily out of the slot, ran a 4.0 in the short shuttle coming out of high school and had a 34.4-inch vert.

The move from slut to slot might not be a stretch for Tathan.

Sometimes switching position is the best way to get on the field. I believe one of the Arkansas QBs switched to WR this off season and he should get some playing time there.

He should just get started on his modeling career and stop wasting his time with football.

Generally it's a desperation move in a grad transfer situation ala JFIII...you can get away with if you do it early enough. I wish him the best.

Wrong board
I'm sure plenty would rather be talking about a highly touted QB in the center of one of the biggest offseason SES stories making a move to WR than what sidewalks outside of stadiums are paved the best.
*Sigh* Just a few more days until football.

So, despite what Diaz says, Tathan was #3 on the depth chart.

Ryan Tannehill went from QB, to WR, back to QB

Martel is unreal with the ball in his hands. Beyond elusive. Watched him at osu and video at gorman.
A little below average (at best) throwing the ball. But, I'd pay to watch him play at Slot. No hesitation.
He has NO shot in hell as QB in the NFL. Sooner he moves to Slot, the better.

SIGNIFICANT difference.
Ryan Tannehill played WR as a redshirt freshman. He was 4th on the Quarterback depth chart in 2008. In 2009, he was the backup QB behind Jerrod Johnson and also the holder on field goal and extra point attempts. In 2010, he was still the backup QB and holder, but became the starter in game 7.

Someone should have told that RG3.

Zach Smith the former WR coach at OSU said this also on his podcast. Gator fans might be interested in listening to it. He tells some stories about his time at Florida. It’s actually a pretty entertaining podcast.
