You have tp pay your dues

Florida was terrible at football till Charlie Pell came along, that got them resectable (aside from the cheating) and Galen Hall kept them together so Spurrier could take it to the next level

Georgia was above respectable but not Alabama level for 15 yeas so Kirby could take them to the promised land

If you want to make it to the promised land you have to wander the desert for awhile. Not looking it up but how many teams in history went from 8 wins a season (respectable) to MNC's or CFP's?

I think LaVell started in the early 70's at least a decade + to get to the MNC in the mid 80's. The Holiday Bowl was their MNC claim to fame where they beat a 6-6 Michigan team. I think that was their toughest team all year and I think they beat them by less than 10 points.

Auburn.

Auburn has powerful voodoo, nothing they do (good or bad) surprises me anymore

The thing about programs that were at some point potential sleeping giants like Florida, UGA or LSU is that they were either: not fully invested/committed, had gone the “cheap route” in hiring, were poorly managed… or a combination of all 3 to some degree.

A&M has hit home runs in hirings with proven winners several times, made blockbuster moves in conference affiliations (not only SEC at the time the B12 was the second coming of Christ), and are heavily invested.

Maybe the narrative that it’s inevitable they are destined to be great is just a load of crap. They are a decent program a little behind the likes of MSU. That may be their ceiling.

He is far from a Gus. more of a Harsin than a Malzahn.

Know what Gus doesn't have? A BCS National Title as a head coach. Who'd he lose to when he had his chance? Jimbo Fisher.

At least Gus had them playing for a national title. Y’all couldn’t even get there with Manziel and Evans.
