This is why we need to get to a 16 team playoff pronto.

Well, to be fair, Rueben Foster made his arse quit long before the bowl game.
Melt, bitch.

Yeah dude. That was his freshman year. The year before he almost rushed for 2000 yards. But oh yeah really made him quit. And before you can get to the 31 yards against bama because that’s all y’all can say. Fournette would have 200 vs bama in this offense.

What was the purpose of his press conference?

Tell that to the LSU fans who create 50 threads a day about UA because they are obsessed.
And you being on an LSU board accusing people of being Bama obsessed tells us who is obsessed with whom.

Honestly can you blame kids for not wanting to risk injury in meaningless bowl games?
Honestly yes, when you make a commitment, you stand by it and give it your all. I have always done it with my job, family, sports. Most of these guys have insurance policies paid by someone other than themselves.
We are going to hell in a handbasket how we're teaching our children and young adults to handle life, commitment, and what your word means. Essentially it's "I've gotten all I can from you now, you mean nothing".

There is a reason he is talking to Bo Jackson about his injury and what he needs to do.
Hopefully he has a good degree to fall back on if things don't work out for him in football.
He should sit and think about his future.
He shouldn't have been playing when he got hurt but a man making 9 mil a year was stroking his ego.

So you're saying the guys playing for a national championship should sit out the game to avoid possible injuries? After all, according to you it's just a football game. If you're not playing for the love of the game and for your teammates of a long hard season then you're in it just for yourself? Why not sit after the eighth or ninth game if you have already proven your mettle for the next level?

This is just another byproduct of the negative impact of money on amateur sports.

Tua didn't just say that he supports guys sitting. He said that he'd support their decision no matter what it was:
quote:
"With a lot of the guys that are draft-eligible, you can’t really tell them what they should or shouldn’t do. I think the best thing for me as a teammate will be for me to support them in whatever decision they decide to make. It’s their choice. They’ve worked hard enough, and they’ve worked long enough to get to where they’re at in their life.
"If they decide to not play, to sit out, I think that’s a decision they need to sit down with Coach [Saban] and make. I think the best thing that I can do and the rest of our teammates can do is support them in that decision.”

It's a weird issue. The Bowl Games are irrelevant now outside of the playoff. They were always mostly irrelevant but the ambiguity of the system gave them the appearance of more value.
I'm not a fan of guys quitting midseason ala Bryant (Clemson) last year or Joey (Auburn) this season. However, I tend to have less concern if a NFL guy sits out of a meaningless bowl game. As an Auburn fan I've watched in the past as our NFL guys go through the motion in bowl games enough to know it probably doesn't matter much if they sit or play.
I hope Brown plays in the bowl game, but wouldn't blame him if he didn't. My hope is selfish because he's a joy to watch play.
