Supposedly...UF has the best DB's in the nation...supposedly Mullen's an O-guru...

supposedly...Feleipe Fantabulous Franks is the next Joe Montana.
In reality...UF's DB's were awful and their coaching looked it. They appeared to be very beatable.
In reality...Mullen is FAR from all that. This may have been the first game of the season, but gracious, Florida looked like a poorly, POORLY, coached team. I couldn't believe his talk post-game about how "wonderful the game atmosphere was, etc." Mullen ain't right.
The other coaches ain't right, either. With all the penalties, etc., and with the players behavior and celebrating like they had won the world title, none of them seemed upset at them.
In reality...Franks has HAPPY FEET. What's that? He's e-a-s-i-l-y rattled. The times he was forced to go left, he bombed. His play is pedestrian for the most part, but he can hook one once in a while when he gets pumped, but when the opportunity presents itself he's a douche. He's got a lot of growing up to do with all his antics on the field. He's not a leader.
ZUNIGA...now, he's a good one. He played well last night. Florida...at least you have ONE player you can hang your hat on.
*Edit: I previously jokingly said I would congratulate the Gators if they won, then said...not! Hated arch-rivals or not...it's sorta hard to get it out, but here goes...

The Florida DL did a good job of pressuring a rookie QB in his first start. Zuniga showed why he is considered 1st round material.
Franks, on the other hand, seems not to have benefited from another year with the QB guru. Maybe it's just that Mullen isn't quite the guru the Gators wish he was. We'll know more after the 9/14 game at Kentucky. That should be a tougher defense than the Miami one.

I am going to give them another week, since Florida is the only game this week. Hopefully they will go back to being only mildly obsessed once all the games start.

bigD...I know we're rivals and with all smack talk aside, I agree with you. It's true...most improvement in a team is generally always between games 1 and 2.
Trust me, I'm still very wary of any and all our arch-rivals. I just hope we don't bomb against Vandy next week.
