You don't seem to realize the depth of the truth you're telling. Sure UT played lousy and Memphis wound up with more points. But Memphis got the winning points on one of the worst calls in history. The Memphis kickoff returner went to ground, propping his body off the ground on his elbow and forearm - the one holding the ball, by the way. Everyone relaxed, assuming the whistle. But there's no whistle, the guy jumped up and went 95 yards. The elbow is down, just like the knee, but these idiot refs didn't know that.

Oh I do realize the depth of the truth I typed ... and now that you bring back the memory, I remember that KO return very well. Was the guy's name Cobb maybe? Something like that. Or anyway, I remember the name from that game, Cobb. It was a horrible call, no doubt about it. And did I remember correctly - didn't Manning have a pass intercepted and returned for a TD in that game as well? It may have been the only one of his college career, I'm not sure.

I went to the Bama vs A&M game and the man (couple) sitting next to my brother and I played OL for la tech when they beat Bama... They were Bama fans and the women and all of their kids went there.

Poor selection for UA. LA Tech that year was a very good team with an excellent QB.

You should have chosen the 2007 LA Monroe loss. There is no solid explanation for that one, except that JPW is the worst regular starting qb in UA history.

For UGA I cant really think of one that happened during a GOOD season though we have certainly lost our fair share of games to inferior opponents. Pretty much ANY loss to Vandy or UK falls under this category.

Losing to BOTH Vandy and UK in 2006 when we eventually went 9-4 is probably the worst I can remember.

Having to kick a FG with only seconds remaining in 2003 to beat UAB 16-13 is about the worst I have ever seen UGA play against a team that shouldn't have even been on the same field. I believe that was the same game in which Decory Bryants neck was broken and his chance at playing at the next level erased.

When Freddy Milons hit that sideline......the crowd was going INSANEEEEEEEEEEEEE.....That was a fun year...even though we lost some.

Any given Saturday.

If you play bad and the other team plays good you can get beat. Great teams have off games and bad teams have great games and when they line up upsets happen.

LSU losing to Florida in 03 was pretty strange even though it was Florida. We just Knocked off the highly ranked UGA in TS 2 weeks before, started off 6-0, then laid an egg against 3-3 Florida with Freshman QB Chris Leak. Our offense got shutout too

We then finish the rest of the season undefeated and win the National Title

Also lost to Texas Tech that year. Their QB (BJ Simmons?) threw for over 600 yards and Eli threw for over 400. One of the craziest offensive games I've ever seen.

I remember being at this game. Even though we lost, this was a fun game to watch. If Biddle doesn't drop that touchdown pass from Manning.....it would have been a whole different story. He dropped a wide open TD pass against Memphis too if I recall correctly.

I remember the game in '94 pretty well. We just looked flat, flat, flat. SMU was terrible, and we hadn't lost a conference game in nearly four years. But we were on probation, and not going to a bowl anyway...

The difference really was an extra point missed in the third quarter. We went into the half down 14-0, but scored pretty quickly to get to 14-13. SMU scored again, and we finished off with a TD and a 2-pt conversion that we would have been able to convert for the win -- if not for the fact that we were down 8 due to the missed PAT earlier.

Kicker had a chance to atone for the miss, but it was a 65+ yd attempt as the clock ran out...

Surprised no one mentioned 2011 game between Auburn and South Carolina. I know Auburn won 8 games, but that was a bad football team. They were spanked by everyone else with a pulse. But they beat the Gamecocks in their own backyard and did it with defense. WTF

The Rutgers game was mind boggling...but we had Capt Kangaroo aka Galen Hall as HC....he was very good friends with the HC at Rutgers and I think when we were up by 2 TDs he took out Kerwin Bell and inserted Rodney Brewer the back up qb who was a very good baseball player (a southpaw as I recall)but mediocre in football. Brewer promptly helped Rutgers back in the game with plays that defied logic and the Swamp crowd actually starting booing because they wanted Bell put back in (myself included) before we lost the freaking game...he was and we didnt...but we ended kissing an unwanted sister with a tie.

A loss that really makes you shake your head was the season opener in the Swamp in 1989 with a team projected to do well...Emmitt back and healed and an experienced qb in Kyle Morris..plus a salty as hell defense...we played Ole Miss as heavy favorites and lost even though we outgained them probably 4 to 1 in yds....we were very generous in giving up the pigskin way too many times.

We played a strange strange game...oh btw Morris was suspended later on for gambling. Without Morris we had the best collection of inept signal callers in the country.....so even with Emmitt it was a dismal season. We went to a bowl game and got our azzes handed to us.

The 2001 AU at the loveliest village was another one of those shake your head moments. We had a very good team...undefeated and Rex Grossman, the gunslinger, at qb. Spurrier called a bad game against a very poor AU team that was rag tag in talent compared to UF...but road trips to Jordan Hare always scared the beejeepers outta me. The game was ESPN at night and AU had winds howling at gusts of 45 to 50 mph. True...our star rb Ernest Graham was banged up and the run game not doing great...but we continued to throw deep bombs into the freaking wind all night. Between the picks (4 as I recall)and the 3 and outs..we were playing with fire which as I recall was happening at the AU library...anyway our defense kept bailing us out but we lost.

6 turnovers. Graham was hurt, so we had the fumble machine Robert Gillespie in his absence.

Looks like he won the 1996 ESPY for that play

Memphis Kickoff Return

I'm with you. That guy is down. His entire forearm definitely touches the ground and it looks like his arse and knee do too.

His name was Cobb, and you're almost right about the INT. The guy got credit for a 76 yard return to the 1, where they punched it in on the next play. I think it was the next year against Florida when Tony George returned a tipped ball INT 88 yeards for a TD.

Just a little side note: Auburn is the only conference team that USCe does not have a single victory against since they joined the SEC 20 years ago…..
