2. Can you think of anymore strange losses where your team has 9/10 wins, but loses to an inferior opponent.

9-6

Good thread so far...I'm sure there's more pain to dig up. I was only 6 or so when that A&M game happened but I know it's still a sore spot for the older folks.

Dubose later learned, after losing to Tennessee, that it's all God's fault anyway.

Let's keep this thread on track...But honestly I will say the 1993 LSU-Alabama was definitely a WTF loss. That was a truly bad LSU team.

Ole Miss

In 2003 we lost to Memphis with senior QB Eli Manning and we would later go on to go 10-3. That same Memphis team gave State one of their only 3 wins on the year.

Also lost to Texas Tech that year. Their QB (BJ Simmons?) threw for over 600 yards and Eli threw for over 400. One of the craziest offensive games I've ever seen.

Our other loss that year(before the Sugar Bowl) was to a pretty bad Ole Miss team. A complete WTF season all around

That "pretty bad" ole miss team went 8-3-1, 2 SEC losses and one to Arkansas, and if we had beaten Tennessee near the end of the season we would have won the SEC.

1999 LSU lost to Mississippi State.

No 9 or 10 wins, it just never happens.

in 1994 A&M goes 10-0-1, with the tie being against a 1-9-1 SMU team a few years removed from the Death Penalty.

well, it wasn't a "few" years. It was like 7 but still, SMU sucked for a long time afterwards. There really is no excuse for that game other than RC rarely got the team jacked up for games not at home. We lost several just awful road games in the 90s that we had no business losing - @Tulsa in 91 that probably cost us a shot at MNC and @ULALA in 96 stand out but we consistently lost all big games away from Kyle and looked totally unprepared - OU in 93, CU in 95

An OU buddy of mine after this year's cotton bowl commented to me that iron sharpens iron. Playing in the SWC we simply didn't have to play week in and week out and we half-assed our way through some games and despite enormous talent we simply weren't prepared against top teams (as can be witnessed by our bowl record in this period)

No offense was meant. I was going from memory.

From an LSU perspective I just remembered that we beat most of the tough teams on the schedule and had 2 losses that I felt we should have won....Honestly didn't recall Ole Miss being that good.

Yeah we were 1 game away from winning the SEC twice under billy brewer, and both times lost to Tennessee. 1986 and 1990.
