Because he is short, unathletic, with an average arm. He is a game manager that doesn’t do anything enough to stand out. That’s why this story doesn’t go away and why Kirby plays him. He doesn’t do anything terrible or great. He’s just a safe option that benefits from a deep and talented defense.

In 2 games he’s 33/56 3 TDs, 449 yards, 0 INTs, 14 rushes for 62 yards and 2 TDs.
All that while doing little more than handoff in the second half.
How unathletic is UT defense?

Bennett ran up stats against bad defenses. The players around him are amazing. He sucks. He’ll suck again Monday night.

As a college QB Bennett is lot better than McElroy and it's not especially close

Bennett is UGA’s only option and is probably playing above his god given talent level. The young man is a winner and giving it his all for his team. He’s no where near the stratosphere of Bryce young’s talents. This thread is a backhanded attempt to slight him. Awful….
