When we walked off game one against Vanderbilt because game one winners in a super regional have a 79% chance of taking the series. That’s when I knew we had a chance, but I knew it would still be difficult and probably go to a game three. I actually still gave Vandy a great shot to win after we lead the series 1-0.

When we knocked off FSU, I felt like we had a good chance at winning the regional despite losing by 10 runs to Oklahoma that Friday. But I knew Oklahoma wasn't that much better, and that State was capable of beating them twice if they could beat Arkansas and Florida both 3x.
Once Vanderbilt knocked off Clemson, I felt good because I thought State played better in a small ballpark at FSU, so playing at Vanderbilts might actually have been more beneficial than hosting (though nothing compares to the dimensions of that tiny FSU Park, my gosh).
With this team, we thought they had the abilities to go 0-2 or make OMAHA simply because of their regular season of knocking off the best and losing to the worst. And if you think about it, we basically did both.

I thought we had a small chance before the tournament started since we'd gone 9-1 vs top 10 teams. 10 games isn't a fluke.

After forcing OK to a game three in the regional by beating them 8 runs. I knew OK didn’t have the pitching to quiet the bats in the third game.
And MSU was not the same team that lost to Vandy earlier in the year.

I booked my hotel when McNamee hit his first home run in game 1 vs. Vandy. I got PO’d and went to bed when Vandy hit the 2nd homer in the 9th of game 3 to tie it.

Honestly...it was after going 4-0 against Arkansas and Ole Miss in a 5 day stretch.
