Spurrier was on with the Sirius ESPNU crew this morning, and McElroy asked about his thoughts on the A&M job from a coach's perspective.

Spurrier said that in the SEC, the top 3 jobs in the West are Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M. In the east, the top 3 jobs are Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

Would seem the man is qualified to speak on the subject. But I don't know. Maybe some here would object to those lists.

As far as resources go it is an elite job. Brand new gorgeous $500 million stadium, all new practice/locker room/training facilities, huge student body and alumni base, third largest public endowment in the country, top-5 annually in private donations, fertile local recruiting bed, etc.

We are not elite as far as history goes, our program is only top-20 when it comes to all time winning %. But at the end of the day, recruits don't care what happened 20, 30 or 40 years ago. They care about the current staff, facilities, location and recent trends. With right coach, our lack of history won't matter much.

A&M fans regurgitate the same shite....it’s another fricking tradition of theirs when it comes to validating themselves.

Recruits do care about pedigree. They want to see chicks on the sidelines, they don’t like weird cult status quo bs.....

So yeah the right coach may change the culture but you’ve had 80 fricking years to find one to no avail!!!!!

He's judging it solely on each states access to pro tour golf courses.

If A&M was that kind of program, They could have been somewhat successful even with Sumlin.

Bottom line. There ain't nothing worth a damn in Texas. Most overrated (by southerners only. Northerners know it's really a shithole) State in the country.

Of the current coach, which frequently correlates to recent success of that program. LSU has a built in advantage in that they are in a talent rich state where essentially everyone grows up an LSU fan, especially with the Saints being so bad for so long. Nearly every Louisiana recruit grows up dreaming of playing for "their" team. That is NOT the same thing as caring about pedigree.

Recruits do not care who won the SEC in 1978
