By the rules being proposed....

-- Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State would've made the playoffs in 2014....

-- Alabama in 2015 & 2016....

-- UGA, Alabama and Auburn in 2017...

-- Alabama, UGA, Auburn, and LSU in 2018...

-- LSU, UGA and Florida in 2019....

-- Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida and UGA in 2020

Interesting....8 different of 14 SEC teams just in this 7-year span.

The rankings would have looked different if the criteria were top 12 at the time these came out. It's all made up.

I don't understand how we wouldn't have been in the playoff in 2015. We had a better year than we did in 2014

So in 2019 Alabama not in the top 12??? What a bunch of crap. Sign of things to come. Just like our elections now. It's not how good or smart you are it's just about inclusion of the dumbasses.

Gotta be conference champs to be in the hypothetical top 4... excludes 2017 bama.

These things assume that the polls would be the same. I don't think that is a safe assumption, once the 12 team playoff is implemented. Being in that playoff is going to become all-important, so some of the 11-1, 10-2 type SEC teams that are better than 11-1, 10-2 type shite conference teams are going to find themselves down in the polls, so we don't have 6-8 SEC teams in the 12 team playoff.

Not a single team ranked 5-12 from the 2014 season is close to a playoff caliber program now.

Bama would have easily beaten 8 of the 12 playoff teams in 2019.

It's like they got together and said - what's the worse possible format we can think of?

And then they said, yes, let's do that.

Last year's national title might've been Alabama vs. Florida part 2, assuming Florida's players don't opt out.

Alabama would've had to beat Georgia (again), a tough Oklahoma team, and then the winner out of Clemson/Florida/OSU.

As opposed to Notre Dame, OSU.

Much tougher road.

This is a great example of why we need to abolish the SEC Championship game when these new playoffs start.

Ole Miss was actually 9-3 during the regular season in both 2014 and 15. They actually had bigger wins in 14, #3 Bama and #4 State, than in 15. 2014 team was ranked 9 in the CFP rankings, while the 15 team was ranked 12. The 15 team wouldn't have made it because they'd have been the odd man out when G5 Houston getting the last spot.

Notre Dame should have to join the ACC to get in the playoffs from now on.
