we had a little fun in the conference realignment thread since LSU was not included in a list of top programs ranked by college football value

The article quoted just did not list LSU

It was either an honest oversight or a troll, as LSU is indeed a top program ranked by value and was just behind Bama in the linked article (also linked ITT)

Here is how SEC teams stack up by value for 2017 according to the Wall Street Journal (numer by team name is national ranking):

4. Alabama - $930,001,000
5. LSU - $910,927,000
8. Georgia - $822,310,000
9. Tennessee - $745,640,000
10. Auburn - $724,191,000
11. Florida - $682,031,000
13. Texas A & M - $522,863,000
15. South Carolina - $484,757,000
17. Arkansas - $456,153,000
23. Mississippi - $330,503,000
28. Kentucky - $287,589,000
35. Miss State - $230,655,000
56. Missouri - $126,219,000
64. Vanderbilt - $73,991,000

a couple of really interesting things here

1st - Big 6 gonna Big 6

2nd - after the Big 6; aTm, So Car & Arky are very damned respectible; but there is a pretty big drop off afterthose 8 teams

and I have to say it; the Mizzou valuation is surprisingly low - WTF Mizzou?

crazy we have 9 teams that are basically half billion to billion dollar programs. Wont be long before Bama, Georgia, or maybe LSU actually hits that billion $ number.

They spent all the profits on their baseball stadium.

Football is still king, especially Southern football.

here are the numbers for a few teams of interest/rivals for most SEC fans:

2. Texas - $1,243,124,000
20. Florida State - $385,339,000
24. Clemson - $328,411,000
33. Miami of Florida - $254,502,000
38. Georgia Tech - $212,068,000
43. Kansas - $183,031,000
47. Louisville - $160,899,000

no surprise to see Texas close to the top of this list - sorry Aggie

Gators should be happy being ranked higher than both in-state rivals

And SOUTH CAROLINA is SUBSTANTIALLY more valuable than Clementine
I know this makes a few people on this forum very happy!

the guy that wrote the conference realignment article sure did make a bunch of mistakes, or didn't even bother reading his own source - he used GA Tech as an example of a "bottom feeder" program; but the Yellow Jackets are a top 40 program - they won't get left out of any big plans moving forward...

and once again, WHAT THE frick Mizzou? you are getting beat by fricking Kansas on this list - time to step it up baws

And look at pitiful Louisville way down there - Wildcats gotta like seeing that

Lastly - not really a "team of interest" for SEC fans per se; but how is USC so low on this list? that's a pretty big surprise...

25. Southern California - $324,195,000

FSU, and USC are the biggest surprises to me. They seem like they would rank well above some they’re ranked behind.

ETA: Arkansas being that high on the list surprises me as well.

I know. Was just showing.

Shocking to see their football team is valued higher than their basketball team though.

we been tryin to tell y'all we are a big dog too!!! LOL @ Clemson , USC-w, and FSU being well below Arkansas.

Do y'all see why the SEC added the Hogs and the Cocks now, OG SEC teams? Aggie makes sense, too.

Still scratchin my head on Mizzou, tho.... Granted it was pre-poopswatstica ....

Arkansas was the top target, along with FSU

when Bobby Bowden put on his pink vagina hat, we had to find a replacement

Clemson was scampering and begging to be that team

But we said frick NO and pulled the better all around program from the Palmetto State

THANK YOU Vince Dooley

True. LA is huge transplant city, so a lot of the college football fans I meet down there have other school alma maters. But still how is FSU valued so low. They have a huge fan base, good history, Tallahassee and the entire panhandle are majority FSU fans.

Im glad, too. Ole South Cackalacky has grown on me over the years and I like them. When they gave my homey DDAwg the glamorious SEC single game rushing record, that solidified them. Clemson and FSU are vomit inducing.

If you just followed tv coverage and on-field success, you would assume UF and FSU have roughly equal size fanbases and alumni. That is entirely incorrect.

The UF endowment is $1.6 billion, which is low for a flagship university, owing to its relatively young age.

The FSU endowment is $652 million. That's less than Louisiville.

FSU is very young by academic standards, and their alumni base doesn't remotely spend the kind of cash necessary to drive these rankings.

I wasn’t comparing UF and FSU. I would think UF is valued higher than FSU before reading this. I grew up a gator fan, and I was born and raised in Florida. I know how big of school UF is, and how big the alumni system is. I’m still surprised at some other teams being above FSU tho.
