When the apparel companies gave coaches money for wearing their logos on the sidelines. Once the companies realized the fans would buy what they saw on the sidelines, it was over.
On the other hand, it’s a football game, not a church service. I don’t understand why TV announcers wear coats and ties to call a ballgame. A polo shirt would do just fine or wear an everyday jacket for cold football games.
