SEC Rewind showing South Carolina’s awesome performance against Nick Sabans defending national championship teams.

Still hard to believe Bama lost that.

Seems like Garcia played for Carolina for 12 seasons.

I remember watching USCe QB Garcia throwing the ball backwards into in the endzone... what a dumbarse play

Maybe the most talented team of the Saban era. It just lacked the personality to be anywhere near as good as its talent.

What's most retarded is that's the last time Alabama and South Carolina even played.

How the hell can you go an entire decade without playing a team supposedly in your own conference?

If I recall, he believed the safety was better than 'Bama getting a scoop and score.

Funny part about that was is that Garcia was on fire so much that day that the backwards throw actually hit the goal post.

If Garcia could put down the bottle, that day alone would have him in the NFL.

I usually remember the losses more vividly than the wins, at least regular season wise. Garcia was accurate, Jeffery was getting open, because Bama's game plan was to stack the box to stop Lattimore. Spurrier had a good game plan that kept the Bama D off balance. I would say one of Spurrier's best coaching jobs.

I predicted that the cocks would win this game in the preseason and everyone laughed. But the truth was that Bama lost a shite ton of defensive players the year before.

Bama had a lot of offensive weapons...but you win with defense and that's why they watched AU in the SECG and the BCSCG.

7 Consensus All-Americans were injured or hurt for significant amounts of time that season.

He played better drunk than sober.

The eventual NFL talent that both teams had on the field that day is outrageous

I remember not feeling too good about that game heading into the weekend. I went to Columbia for it. Was just the perfect storm of play calling by Spurrier and the Cocks playing lights out. I remember Alshon made Dre his son several times that day

2010 was Nick Saban’s worst coaching job at Alabama. That might’ve been the all-around most talented team he’s had, they just seemed very complacent and appeared to lack focus at times.

South Carolina played absolutely great that day and Alabama never really seemed to have a sense of urgency despite trailing by double digits basically the whole game.

It's sports, stuff like that can happen.

I think it had less to do with coaching and more to do with a few key juniors who were paying attention to their draft stocks more than they were paying attention to Saban in the film room. Several players who were on that team said as much. They just weren't mentally as focused as some of Saban's other teams were. Saban will be the first to blame himself, but sometimes you have to start looking at the players.

It also didn't help the fact that players like Dareus, Upshaw, Ingram, Richardson, Barron, and Jones missed significant game time due to injuries sustained at various times throughout the season. Dont'a Hightower still wasn't at 100% after he had torn just about every tendon in his knee the year before. And our best cover corner (DeQuan Menzie) ruptured his achilles tendon during the summer and was slowed by it for much of the season.

Things just lined up against us that year. Had we not been hit by the injury bug and had many of our key players been concentrating on repeating rather than hearing their name called in New York, we would have won every single game that season.

I don't recall it getting "Pearl Harbor" bad.

2010 was what happens when your last group of guys who were there when there was lots of losing leave and you hand things over to a group who has basically never had it bad. That's one of the only Alabama teams under Saban where I just had no idea how they were going to show up - and not just from game to game, from drive to drive. They were maddeningly inconsistent.

The fact that we haven't had a few more 2-3 loss regular seasons is frankly the most insane and impressive facet of Saban's career to be honest. It's nuts.
