In today's climate these name changes never, ever go well. I mean, look at what has happened to Ole Miss. I'm not sure why "Sir Big Spur" was not good enough, but I guarantee you that whatever they come up with will be even worse.

So we have to change it because the original owner of the bird owned the name, not the university.
He is at odds with the university over some petty stuff, so here we are.
Whoever came up with these new names needs to walk through a 40 acre field of legos...barefoot. they are stupid.

The trademark on the name "Sir Big Spur" expired on August 1st. That's why they're looking at a name change.
