And further destroy it's football program.

The guy has never even been a OC or DC. He's a defensive coach when we said we needed an offensive minded guy.

I get it, they are trying to find the next Dumbo Sweeny. But you'll never beat the Yankees if you try to play like the Yankees...

Didn't you just post that Napier was having his 2nd interview this weekend?

I thought Napier was having a second interview? Which I just read. Honestly I’m not keeping up with it.

I would be surprised if Beamer is the guy. Might as well fold up shop.

Pretty sure shane IS an offensive minded guy. His dad is the defense guy. It is far from the worst hire you could make.

And you couldn't have gotten Beamer Ball Jr. after the season? A heck of a buyout for those Carolina high rollers.

Interesting. Played as a WR in college. became a CB coach, then a LB coach, then switched to RB and TE coach.

Opps, you're right. He's coached both offense and defense in his career. He was the LB's coach at SC which is why I got confused.

Im not big on the name, but he seems like he has a good understanding of both offense and defense, and is a known recruiter.

I feel 10x better about him being hired or Napier than I did about Will Muschamp 5 years ago. I'm fine either way.

You know now how we felt with Sam Pittman. It's like I would tell people who asked me how I felt about it: you never can tell with coach hires. It's all a roll of the dice to a degree we don't like to admit - even the big names. But each position lower you go to hire someone, you're taking a bigger risk. Not a big body of work as an HC, another risk. So in that respect, it's understandable when your administration hires a lifetime position coach and expects people to be stoked on it, that you don't exactly bite. Keep an open mind if it is Beamer, every great coach was a first time HC at some point. Some of them even got their start at a job that should have been too big for them.

If it were me, I'd 100% take Napier over Beamer.

You could do worse. He won’t win the press conference, but that couldn’t matter less.

I'm with you there. It really shouldn't be hard to find someone that has at least some prior success as a HC.

How are we hiring Beamer if Napier is coming back tomorrow?
