South Carolina baseball oddity no one can ever claim

South Carolina won the last World Series in Rosenblatt Stadium and the first in the Ameritrade Park....it was also the last year of the aluminum bat and the first year of the composite bat....they also set a record with 11 straight CWS wins and 21 straight NCAA regional and Super regional games (those records can be broken...lol..). It's baseball season so hopefully we can get to the CWS again this year....The SEC is a powerhouse conference so it won't be easy.

That is actually a great accomplishment. Those USC teams were clutch and very balanced.

No it was the end of the aluminum, composite bat era, and the beginning of the BBCOR aluminum bat era. If they were using composite bats today, balls would be flying out of parks left and right. Look at 2006-2009, those were composite bats being used and balls were being absolutely crushed and were flying off of the bats in those years

Man there was this awesome gif made in some newspaper that I don't think I'll ever be able to find.
Basically some paper had an cartoon in 2010 of Cocky turning off the lights of Rosenblatt with the national title in his hand. After we won in 2011 the cartoon was made into a gif of Cocky turning on the lights to TD Ameritrade with a second title in his hand.

As a Clemson fan, I don’t approve of that era. That was an impressive run not likely to be duplicated any time soon.

That 2011 SC baseball team was incredible. They were so damn good.

Wow that looks like it was taken almost word for word off an article I penned for Wiki in 2012 or so. I can't remember if it was that series itself or the general CWS article but I definitely wrote it because ESPN cited me on Sports Center, along with some Michael Roth stuff ... and the win streak among other things.
That was a helluva run. I was fortunate enough to attend all three series and even brought home a memento from the old Blatt press box.

I agree, but you guys had a 3-4 year buildup before that. Like I said, gut wrenchlingly good teams. Uhhh!!

Yeah, people tend to forget that the NCAA tournament streak occurred over 3 years. Starting in 2010 Omaha, running through 2011 and winning a 2nd national title, all the way through getting the finals for a 3rd straight year in 2012 before losing to Arizona.

When was the 6 straight homeruns? You guys were on the tube that day but I heard it. I’m thinking 09 or 08 against Georgia.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. 2011 was an incredible year for South Carolina, Florida, and Vanderbilt baseball. Superb talent across all three rosters.
All three went 22-8 in conference, won 50+ games, were national seeds, and were 3 of the last 4 teams in Omaha. Truly remarkable.
All three could have won it all, but they had to play each other, and South Carolina prevailed. Florida was Vanderbilt's kryptonite that year.
