It's definitely UGA or MSU
It's not going to be MSU. Look MSU may win this weekend. But the chances of them beating LSU, Georgia, and Auburn in consecutive weekends is low.
ESPN FPI gives Mississippi State a 26% chance of winning both at Georgia and at Auburn during the next two weeks. Even if that happens, chances are they would blow a game either to Arkansas, A&M, Kentucky, or Ole Miss.
In order for MSU to finish as the league's 2nd best team, they'll probably need to finish 7-1 in SEC play. ESPN FPI shows they have an 11.2% chance to go 7-1 with the loss being to Bama. Their best chance to go 6-2 according to FPI is 22.9%. A 6-2 record in all likelihood means either a loss to Auburn or to Georgia, which in all likelihood would mean that MSU is NOT the 2nd best team in the league.

I'm really not convinced about UGA since I still don't know if ND is any good.

RIGHT NOW it is a "toss up" between UGA & State
I have UGA as #2; but I can understand an argument for State

I'm not actually going to pick us. The argument certainly can be made, and our QB has played extremely well (I don't get all these posters who are convinced we don't have an offense just because our defense is better.) Our defense has been downright nasty, of course. But I think it's premature to really call us second best until we see what happens in the game against Bama, win or lose. I'm glad it's so early in the season because this is the sort of game that really helps get a fix on where a team is and where it's headed.

Exactly where have you seen where we have paid for our talent? NCAA was on campus for 5 years and found ZERO pay for play players. Keep being upset over Tunsil I guess.

I haven't seen a team play as well as MS State.

State looks awfully good. It's way too early to call though.

LSU, has the most talent and speed.

1. Bama
2. MSU
3. UGA
4. Vandy
2. MSU
3. UGA
4. Vandy

Where did he say pay/paid? He said cheating. Are you saying Ole Miss did not cheat?
ETA
Edited to say he said: "massively cheating". You still can't say he was wrong.

So as fun as it is to think about Kentucky, Vandy, and/or Mississippi State challenging for the SEC Title, its just not realistic. Those programs do not have the athletes and it would frankly take a miracle for one of those to finish as one of the two best SEC programs.
Over the last decade, State has been more relevant to the title than UGA.
Lining up on the shite side of the conference and taking the free ride to Atlanta doesn't automatically make you the second, or even third, best team.

FPI doesn't realize (yet) how overrated some teams are. Those hypothetical odds could drop considerably. Much like the run over 3 top 10 teams in 3 weeks in '14. Those odds were astronomical, but nobody realized those 3 teams weren't legit top 10 squads.

UGA was closer to a title in 2012 than MSU has ever been in the history of its program.

It could be Georgia, but really don't know. ND was a 4-8 team so there is some question to that win.
Auburn clearly sucks on offense, but their defense is nasty.
I'll go with who proved the most.
MSU. Till proven otherwise, they are the second best objectively. They have the most impressive win of the three.

I was really impressed with Miss State's domination of LSU. Their game with UGA this weekend will say a lot about their stability and depth. If they win, as I think they will, MSU will challenge for the West title.

So doing what everyone else is doing. So what. Why discount what we did that year against everyone else doing the same thing. I know damn well we pay players just like everyone in the SEC other than Vandy does. With that said, discounting the 2014 and 2015 season is just plain stupid since we were doing it just like everyone else.
