Something is lost with digital ticket distribution.

Warning: Offseason/Preseason Topic

I saw someone tweet out the other day about how they received their UGA season tickets digitally through email.

There's no doubt that digital ticket distribution is easier, cheaper, more efficient, and gets rid of the big problem of what happens you lose your ticket or forget it at home. There's no doubt that it's where we're heading.

But do you think that something is lost with the phasing out of physical tickets? My dad has kept all of his tickets from games since the early 1980s, and has a whole trove of old Auburn tickets. Even I still have my ticket from the 2018 SECCG, even though UGA lost. It's a really cool way to keep a record of games you've been to, especially if the game is memorable.

It is a very small and insignificant thing, but I think that it will be a small thing that's lost when physical tickets get phased out.

This is where NFT's come in. You should introduce your dad to them. He'll have it forever and can pass it down through the generations.

I’ve kept tons of tickets through the years. I think the digital system is easy and streamlined but there should be an option for those who want paper tickets.

But unfortunately, it’s cheaper to go digital and everything in CFB is now about the almighty dollar.

Part of me kind of agrees with you, I wish I could've kept my ticket from the orange bowl this past year but the convenience of having the ticket on my phone and not forgetting it at home is pretty sweet. I'm ok with them being virtual now

Tickets, game programs, and apparently hard copy media guides are all now extinct.

The future is here and it is arse.

Absolutely, especially those of us that have 7 yr old grand kids that have to show me how to use my I-Phone.

I hate digital tickets, mainly because my phone is always nearly out of charge at the worst possible times.

Absolutely hate digital tickets.

I always looked forward to getting those season tickets delivered every year.

I noticed they still have the "service fee" even though they're not having to print physical tickets and mail them. Shocker.

I think when LSU did digital tickets, you were still able to request paper tickets as memorabilia.

Just like how people hated losing printed photographs. "Everything is digital now"

Might as well accept it and run with it.

I think the real problem is that we're dragging our feet so much in this digital transition. Our society would be much better if we just dove in with both feet instead of one foot in one foot out.

e.g. as we recently found out, pretty much everyone can work, and go to school remotely now. That's more convenient. Paperwork should all be replaced with digital. There's way too much legal/government papers. It should all be digital.

It’s bullshite. I’m a very superstitious guy and leave my phone in my truck when going to the game. Guess not anymore

Dude, I still have my 2005 SECCG stub, even though LSU lost.

I keep a photo album with all my stubs going back to Katrina. When only an e-ticket is available I print it and cut out whichever part looks like an old ticket. Yes, it sucks.

Not football related, but I go to 10-15 concerts/year and I REALLY miss the paper ticket stubs. I saved so many from when I was younger and then they were just gone.

I’m always worried about my phone battery especially if I’m away from a charger all day.
