So why did Saban get a free pass? Time to take a look at the truth... here's the facts:

In the 4 Bama years prior to Saban, Bama was 26-24 with only ONE winning season. Their records were 4-9, 6-6, 10-2, 6-7 Their recruiting rankings were 15, 18, 11, and 10.
In his first full year of recruiting, they finished 7-6, but they recruited the #1 class. followed by another #1, and then another.... etc...
In the 4 A&M years prior to Fisher, A&M was 31-21, with 4 winning seasons- records of 8-5, 8-5, 8-5, 7-6. Their recruiting rankings were 10, 17, 10, and 16.
Jimbo's recruiting was then ranked 6, 6, 7, and 1. Not an unusual progression at all, especially given his 2020 results, and beating Bama in a year full of injuries.
You look at Saban's LSU history- almost same thing. 2001 in his first full recruiting year, LSU class was rated anywhere from 1 to 3, then 15 (due to only 19 recruits), then 1, then 2.
As soon as he left, LSU's classes were 22, 7, 4, 11, 2, 6, 6, 18, 6, 2, 2, 8, 5, 8.... Very good, but not top 1 or 2 in the nation 3 out of 4 years.
Fact is, Jimbo knows about Saban, and it finally boiled over when Saban called out A&M for cheating. Saban is a sleazy recruiter, and has been for most of the past two decades.

Well, there was a reason he left MSU to come to LSU. Gerry Dinardo started the trend of keeping the best LA talent in state, and Saban shut the door on outsiders coming in a taking them.
I noticed you didn't list LSU's recruiting classes pre-Saban like you did Bama's.
And the Final two were after our First SEC Championship and after our NC.
How did Jimbo manage to get his Number 1 class without either of those two accomplishments? Not to mention no trips to Atlanta or the CFP?

2001/2007 wasn't the first year of NIL with LSU/Bama egregiously exploiting it
So there's no pass to give. It's just totally different situations, A&M is getting heat for things in a different world that don't apply to Saban, then or now. It's like you got pulled over going 180 on the interstate but you're telling the cop "what about Jeff Gordon in '02 at Daytona, he could drive as fast as he wanted." The answer is you're an idiot.

I didnt do LSU's recruiting pre-Saban because I was using Rival rankings, and they only went back to 2002.

There's an unwritten code among the coaching fraternity. Of COURSE Jimbo knew all about Saban. It's only when Saban personally attacked Jimbo's own program that he decided to let loose.

I guess when you are connected to a great school, in a great location, in a recruiting hotbed, with a hugely supportive student body and alums, with great traditions, you don't have to do some of the stuff you have to do when your schools are located in shitholes.

NIL! Duh! That was the first year that was allowed to get players to use NIL. If not for NIL did you think Texas A&M would have gotten the number 1 class? Nope!

I didn’t know Jimbo had a fake NC trophy. How pathetic is that. But an ATM fan said tonight on this very board that he didn’t care if an A&M national title was recognized or not, he just wanted one. Why don’t they just do a Central Florida. Declare themselves National Champs, buy a big assed trophy, hold a parade, make banners and print the cups. That way maybe they would finally be happy and get the hell off of the SEC boards.

So a&m is pretty much 8-4 no matter what happens. This is actually not a bad record for lower tier SEC team. You should have some cups made to celebrate your achievement. You would have been 8-4 this year if the coach we fired didn't beat that arse.
