So what makes LSU think Kelly won't do the same to them?

Kelly is a pretty good football coach, kudos on the hire Tigas, I hope it works out for you. But as a human being, Kelly is a real POS. He's shown himself to be all about himself multiple times and frick everybody else. He just left a program with a more storied history than LSU and a national icon. If you follow college football at all, you know those gold helmets and Touchdown Jesus.
So LSU broke out the checkbook and hired this man away from old Notre Dame for a pretty penny. It's a long, large contract. So what makes you think he doesn't give the SEC a go for a few seasons, then decide it's too hard, too competitive and too much trouble and does the same thing to LSU that he just did to Notre Dame? He's threatened to do it multiple times to ND, and finally followed through, with his team on the cusp of another playoff appearance. There is no pressure in South Bend, his job is secure and his seat isn't even a little warm. How do you think this man will respond if he turns in an 8-4 year and LSU fans are on his arse about it?

This is getting old. Everyone pretending that coaches don’t leave for other jobs every single year. And ND, for all it’s been in the past, simply isn’t what it use to be. He likely feels he’s reached his ceiling there. The man is 60, and feels he’s got a much better chance at winning an NC at LSU than at ND. And if it doesn’t work out, he’s got 95 reasons to go ahead and retire. I think the man has balls, coming to the toughest division in CFB.

I think this year is going to cause the NCAA to take a hard look at the early signing period. That's really the only reason coaches are now bailing on teams well before their season is over. Before early signing a school could wait for their new coach to finish up and still get a decent recruiting class. You do that now and you aren't going to have anyone left to sign on come February.

No, people are not surprised that coaches are taking new jobs. It's that they are leaving their schools before the season is over when they still have the chance to be in NY6 and playoff bowls.
THAT is new and it's 100% b/c of early signing day completely fricking up the recruiting schedule.

Nick Saban had a reputation for being the biggest a-hole around and none of his staff at Michigan State got on the chartered plane he sent for them to follow him to LSU. That turned out pretty well anyway. And Bama seems to have done pretty decent with him. They leave when they leave.
