We get it - you think Texas is more powerful and smarter than everyone in the league and will eventually impose their will on all of us. We allllllllllllll get it.
Apparently us poor, dumb SEC folk don't know what's good fer us and we will get taken advantage of because we never dealt with competitive and cut-throat schools in the conference.
It is, frankly, a bit insulting.

I agree. I don't want the arrogant assholes. And if this was done by the SEC in secret without informing all members that is dirty as hell. Proves that money rules. Some people/organizations will stab you in the back for a dollar.

SEC Expansion is over. If the SEC goes to 18 or 20 teams then for all intents and purposes it will be like two separate conferences with a "bowl tie-in" for a conference title game. Teams will go years without playing each other.
You may be right, and probably are. And this may very well be the be the overall best thing for the conference.
If it were not for the shenanigans of ~2010 (and, especially, that a-hole DeLoss Dodds), I'd be OK with all this. Before then, I rooted for Texas as long as they were not playing A&M. Dodds fricked all that up and poisoned the well.
I stand by, though, that the process here is bush league and not something Slive would have done.

Several people on this board seem to think that "A&M being left out of the discussion" is automatically equal to "the other 13 ADs plus Sankey all sitting in a room together twirling their mustaches and laughing about leaving A&M in the dark." In all probability ALL of the individual schools were left in the dark about this until recently. Working out the specifics of this sort of thing falls squarely in the SEC Office's swim lane. Schools wouldn't need to be brought in until the last minute - "I've been talking to UT and OU, they want to join, here are the specifics of the agreement, do you vote yes or no?" There's no way that this would have been kept secret for so long if the entire conference minus one member knew about it.

Because you can't be relied upon to be a rational, stable business dealer.
You would have gone ape sh*t and immediately leaked everything on day 1 (like you did with your media day stunt), and then focused on becoming an internal and external saboteur.

Sounds somewhat familiar to one Texas A&M process to the SEC, no?

Meh...Not great for Aggie but its best for the conference. Sorry but you guys along with all of your buddies back in the Big12 would have just worked overtime to get it killed.

I'm not a fan of leaving existing members out of these decisions. As I said in the other thread, it's all fun and games now cause DDEERRRR AGGIES but this kind of shite just sets the precedent for it to happen to any member in this conference.
How would Florida fans feel if it was to bring in FSU? Alabama fans if it was done that way to bring in Ohio State or Clemson? Tennessee with Memphis? Us with Louisville? And so on.
If you want to expand the conference you do it up front with all the members involved. If it's truly best for the conference it's not going to matter if A&M objects because the leadership will get the votes.

These A&M fans the past few days are making LSU fans look normal when it comes to being paranoid about another team's apparent political power in a conference
They absolutely have a point on Texas's power over the Big 12. It's silly to think they'll waltz in and get that same red carpet treatment in the SEC though. They'll certainly try, and the money they bring will give them some sway, but they won't be what they were in the Big 12.

And you people still won’t believe us when we talk about how they operate?
In this scenario, it's because you're the problem.

All of this.....I do think there had to be some off the record discussions with various schools to make sure they would have the votes.

Been fine with bringing FSU into the SEC since the 50's.
LINK
They were offered as late as 1990 with Florida's OK and they turned us down.
And Florida used to be mistreated by the Good Old Boy network in the SEC back in the day. So I don't need to hear woe the frick is me by anyone, especially A&M. We are a charter member of the SEC and probably the most marketable team out there other than Notre Dame.

FOOK A&M
I’m sitting here cracking up at threads of y’all pulling the male version of EKG’s posts “gosh well we were a sitting member of the SEC and by golly we sure did expect to be treated better than this and be allowed to keep running from Texas forever
Let this be a notice: we’ve kicked y’all out of the SEC once and we’ll do it again

If all this is true, so be it, but that’s not what I expected out of this conference.

Honestly neither did we. I think most of us really don't actually want Texas' bullshite.
But we're also people and new and exciting things are, well, new and exciting. College football as I enjoy it is basically already dead to me so I guess at this point most people are just along for the ride of how crazy can we actually get.
