Funny how that changed tonight from “four best teams”.

No, the narrative is that you lost by 20 points to an Ed Orgeron coached team earlier in the season AND blew your shot against Bama.

2 losses. I've said it on other threads, one loss, and this is the only loss, then let's talk.

Two losses, one of them a 20 point arse raping to a 9-3 LSU team?

Enjoy the sugar bowl.

The narrative is “young team, next year is the year”

Playoffs unofficially started today, imo. If you lost, you go home. No bailouts.

I think UGA is one of the best 4 teams but 2 losses is tough. Even if they are both forgiveable, although that LSU game was ugly.

Did the Auburn team have chips and dip while watching the SECCG on TV? $49 Million Gus should have treated the team.

The narrative is that you choked again, lost again, and have no shot at a natty again.

It should be the 4 best teams, but it's also hard to put a 2 loss team in over a 1 loss team when they're all playing at similar levels.

I will tell you what is funny:

The same Georgia fans that were telling us all week Alabama was out with a loss are now telling us that Georgia should be in with 2 losses

What kind of redneck logic is that? What a dumb fan base.

There are two ways of looking at "best":

How good is a team?
How did they fare against their schedule?

Depends on what you want in a championship game. Do you want the best two teams in the country regardless of their record? Or do you want the two that survived their gauntlet of schedules (I.e. Final Four tournament)?

Most people want something in the middle which is complicated.

Ok, how about "you took your shot in the form of a fake punt on 4th and 11,"?

I want to see Conference Champions settle it.

frick rematches and mulligans.

And frick teams that cannot even win their conference much less their division.

Nobody will ever be able to choose the "four best teams". You can't compare teams spread out all over the nation playing in different Conferences. W/L records and Conf. championships is all you have to judge teams off of.

I'm a firm believer in the "four best teams regardless of conference championship" argument, and I also firmly believe UGA is currently one of the four best. They aren't the team that lost to LSU anymore. At the end of the day, W-L records and the quality of the loss are going to be factored in. It's like the sorites paradox. Was a 1 loss UGA one of the four best teams? Yes, and the committee clearly agreed because they ranked y'all 4th. Was a 2 loss UGA team one of the four best teams? Well, it's the same team as the 1 loss team, so of course they are. And they played Bama hard. But what if they'd lost to GT? Would a 3 loss UGA team be one of the four best? Well, it's the same team that took Bama to the wire, so...sure. There's a point when you have to make a more discriminating choice because a winless UGA team could make the final four if you use that vein of logic. Unfortunately for UGA, that point came pretty quickly when two 1 loss teams won their respective conferences and forced the issue. Georgia is still one of the top 4 teams as far as I'm concerned, but they hobbled by the context and the argument isn't just "Is UGA worthy?" It's also, "How can we justify keeping out OU/OSU under the circumstance?"

Georgia should not be in but our loss to Bama was better than all of those teams wins. People were talking about Bama possibly being the greatest team ever. That said, we lost to bitch arse LSU 6 weeks ago when our team was playing like shite and you can’t have any slip ups when these big 12 and big 10 schools get to play Northwestern and Texas while we play Bama.
