The SEC schools don't need it to keep rowdy fans in their chairs, so why would they take on the liability?

If I had my choice, I would pick A&M. I like beer.

and i think we've proven as a conference that we are complete sellouts for money (see Missouri).

not really a liability, other schools do, they already do it in the suites. It has been more the schools didnt want to be associated with brands of alcohol and all the marketing that goes along with it.

If it wasn't turned into utter chaos at West Virginia, then I think we'll be fine.
That's true. It would be nice to keep that buzz going the whole game instead of hitting that 3rd quarter wall.

Have you ever been to an NFL game? NFL fans are far trashier than college fans.

dang would have assumed after 3rd quarter.

The two cotton bowls at the Cotton Bowl and Jerry world both sold out of beer on the Ole Miss side by the end of the 3rd quarter of both games. Going to be a big weekend for Texas financially if this happens.

Really? It doesn't bother NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA fans... Why do people assume the world will explode if people can buy beer at a football game.

he said they were just looking into it and if they did move forward they would start small with baseball and softball. sports like that.
i'd be surprised if they had it at football games this year.

If they sold it in the stadium, you know it would be expensive and sales would be cut off at the end of the 3rd quarter, and they'd probably be quick to toss anyone who appared oversered. The hardcore drunks who cause problems are going to binge drink on cheap beer at the tailgate rather than shell out big bucks to get drunk in the stadium, while making it available in the stadium might actually allow some folks to slow down the pace of consumption.

If I were guessing I would guess it does not happen outside of the "donor" sections.
a) Limiting it to donors keeps it exclusive and they write the big checks
b) Previous high profile student drinking issues (like the wreck that killed the UK players after the UT game)
c) Legal liability (and why schools are making dorms private and moving housing off campus)
d) Keeps local churches happy
e) Keeps level with B1G
f) Do you really want legal liability for drunken tea baggers and tree killers?

It's called an anti-dram shop act. If your state doesn't have one, it needs one.

Don't know about this, but isn't South Carolina's stadium pretty far off campus? They would be a good candidate to make this happen.
With the amount of drinking that happens anyways, Williams-Brice wouldn't see much change in terms of stadium atmosphere.
Oh, and our stadium is off-campus but is still owned by USC.

This is how I view it. I think our Bible beater culture contributes to an unhealthy attitude and excessive binge drinking. Like abstinence only education, there are people that aren't going to frick, and there are people who are. Forcing those who are going to have to jump through hoops to do it, makes it worse.
Make it expensive, cut them off in the third, and add extra security. At Kyle for instance, all our students are isolated, and there is an attendant at every entrance. You wouldn't be able to bring a beer in there. I'm all for it.
Don't the suites and shite already have beer anyway?
