So... Is Tennessee more screwed now than they were this morning?

On the brightside, they dodged Schiano.

On the downside, they now have an AD that not only thought Schiano was a good idea but has now lost all credibility after his hiring decision got completely and very publicly torpedoed via social media and fan backlash.

So, any agent representing a big name hire now has to consider the environment their client would be going into with this fanbase and the coach himself has to consider having a guy like Currie as a boss.

I get the feeling this offseason may not be full of all the hubris and unfounded confidence we know and love from VOLS fans...

They will get a terrible hire if that is what you are asking. They aren’t going back to the table, they are going deeper into the well.

I would expect they might retain Hoke for one more year and reset.

And if so, Tennessee gets to go through the same process of hiring an AD to not only take on this time bomb but to make a splash hire for football as his or her first act. And at that point, A&M, MSU, Ole Miss, Arizona St, and maybe FSU will all have openings they'll be working on filling.

Fans won the battle with the Schiano hire but I'm afraid y'all may have really lost the war.

If so, recruiting will suffer for the next 2 classes nevermind on-field play. Guys will transfer rather than play for a lame duck coach.

We are going to have money tied up in Schiano as well, we had a signed MOU, Schiano will not get a HC job anywhere going forward with all this lingering, this is his last pay day and he will drag us through litigation until we pay something

I disagree. It's like an unstoppable force of nature. Their fans get excited and then run to tRant to pound their chests, Tennessee fails miserably, and after a brief respite, they start getting excited again about whatever season is upcoming/coaching search, etc. The cycle appears to be infinite.

This coaching search is a prime example. Despite the results of the last 3 coaching searches, they still managed to work themselves up and think that they were going to bring in a big name hire. It's been fun to watch.

Lol we were going to hire Greg Schiano.

Now we aren’t, and are likely going to get John Currie run out as well as having a major shakeup amongst boosters.

It has been an unmitigated success

This is a fact: from a purely football standpoint, Schiano has the best record of any Vol coach since Fulmer. Hell, his record is better than Fulmer's was because Fulmer had never been a head coach.

So just to be clear...Vol fans are insisting that their administration pull the plug on the most qualified coach they would have hired in the last 25 years...all because of hearsay from McQueary which both Bradley and Schiano deny, and in spite of the fact that he has been employed by Ohio State for two seasons with no issues at all.

This will not end well for Tennessee.

No question. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse on Rocky Top. This will set them back another 5-10 years.

I doubt that. Maybe not a HC job, but he will work somewhere.

So in your world ADs just huddle up all by themselves in their office and get on the internet and hire a HC. Not how it works, chief.

UT boosters brought Schiano to Currie. Gonna have to fire some boosters.

If Currie gets fired it’ll be a success.

I could only wish the disaster coaching “search” Alleva did had gotten him fired.
