It’s almlst guaranteed Bama wins 14-10 right? It seems almost inevitable

We win that one going away. I hope Tua can play but if not, I think we have an 80% chance to win that probably something like 31-17.

Be way worse if Tua's not QB...

Based on last night, Bama is in trouble if Mac is the starter

Mac Jones is a really good QB. Last night was his first real game time other than mop up duty. Kid can play.

He seemed totally unable to handle the moment against a below average SEC team. I shudder to think what his reaction would be to a 1 vs 2 matchup with 2 weeks of buildup

Their defense is still pretty good compared to the rest of college football. It's not like it was but it's still a very good defense.

If this is the case, I heard Coach O already talked to Joe Brady and Steve Ensminger about starting Myles Brennan and sitting Joe Burrow to make it “fair.”

He'd be lost for a little bit but after a couple of series, I think he would settle in and play decent enough to win most SEC games. He's not garbage by any means.

Should read:

So if Mac Jones ends up need to start vs. LSU--the refs will make sure Alabama wins 14-10..

His first real action. Kid is a baller. He can make all the throws. Tough kid.

21-0 or 29-0

If Tua rises like Lazarus then 42-0

No way, we'd still play Burrow and throw everything against them. That's what they would do to us. I still don't think it would be a real blow out.

Alabama has the most talent of any team in college football. Pretty sure they could revert to 10 or less passes a game, and still be a favorite to make the playoffs. They have Nick Saban with a bye week to gameplan for us, with homefield advantage. You're insane to think that we're going to blow them out.

Did you not see the Miss State game? We might move up and down the field some, but inside the red zone it's going to get tough as hell. We don't run the ball with authority anymore against ANYONE, I sure don't see that happening at the Tide. We're better off trying to throw TDs from the 30, than get inside the 20.

And the Tua situation throws a curveball at our defensive planning, too. Up until last night, I'm pretty sure we've been working on pass defense with nickel packages for most of the scheme, with run defense geared towards short yardage. If Tua's out with a bye to alter the offense, that might mean we have to prepare for 2 TEs and 40+ off-tackle runs. That's something totally different, with different personnel.

It's amazing that a lot of football fans don't even consider this at all.

Aranda will keep bama in it until the 2nd half. Jones has the same ability Trask has.

He might be a good QB, but probably not an elite QB. To beat LSU this year, Bama needs an elite QB so good luck if you think Jones can beat LSU!

You're also nuts if you don't think Aranda is going to have something special for the Tide.

SOME of the complaints are valid, we've had injuries and some young guys blew coverages.

But we've been lining up and running a vanilla scheme, while having one of the most creative and intelligent DC's in the game. We haven't seen anything "exotic"... yet.

Both sides understand the deal. You show a package against Vanderbilt, Miss St, etc, and that package is on film and gets dissected. You hold it until the Bama game, and it is a surprise and get you a 3 and out, or even a turnover.

So you do enough to get the wins, and play things as close to the vest as you can. Because this year, LSU has the offense to get there. It doesn't matter if we have a top 10 defense against Florida or Auburn at home, because we have a top 5 offense and will outscore them.
It DOES matter against Alabama, because they also have a top 5 offense.

Watch this season play out. Texas A&M gets massacred, because they're AFTER the Bama game, and we can play the full defense without tipping our hand.
