There's also nobody in Austin that is reporting either party has interest, and nobody in the fanbase is pining over John Calipari coming to coach the Longhorns

It's because he's not. Best go get shaka back.

Only way I could see it is if he's worried about losing his job at Kentucky. Maybe he has some other interest in Texas, but these odds seem silly to me.

I do like the idea the Frank “the death stare” Martin to OU tho

Calipari won’t leave UK and Beard won’t leave Tech. Looks like Poison Ivey for us. Yay.

We can talk about it. Sure. I mean, why are big time transfers signing with us right now with more on the way when Cal is out the door?

I'll be happy to give you those Vegas odds man to man, if you give me the same that he stays here on my payout. Sound like a deal hoss?

The difference this time is I'm not sure Kentucky would shed too many tears if Texas made him a godfather offer. Someone like Tony Bennett would be terrifying at Kentucky.

Mark Turgeon at Oklahoma would fill me with all sorts of schadenfreude.

It's Chris Beard's job if he wants it. If he does, it won't be because of money, because Tech is more than capable of ponying up whatever he needs if it goes to some sort of bidding war.

We should know if it's Beard by Friday or Saturday. If not Beard, then yes - Royal Ivey will probably be the fans' first choice. Whether he's the AD's best choice will remain to be seen.

If Texas actually were to take Calipari (never going to happen, but let's just say "if"), then I wouldn't be surprised to see Kentucky take a run at Beard. And he would absolutely leave Tech for a job like that one.

Fair enough. Beard would be an idiot to take that job with the way the fanbase treats coaches. He will be rich either way

Lol right, and weren't you the guy that said Mack Brown hates us because he used to be on your Christmas Card list? I also seem to remember the aggies driving off their most successful coach in the history of their program (who had Parkinsons) just to hire Buzz, who is now 24-24 after 2 seasons and 12-16 in the SEC. And we're the ones who are treating coaches poorly?

We gave Shaka 6 years of opportunity and then facilitated him finding another job after it was clear he was not up to the standard of the program. OH THE HYSTERIA!!

Beard would definitely be on UK’s short list whenever Cal goes.

Who would be the next guy in line? I’ve been wondering a lot lately. Turgeon? Would Manning get a shot?

Yes, and he does hate you. Not the school itself, but the fans.

I'm sure a lot of the aggie coaches that were released are also pining to get back to friday night pep rallies and the totally normal fanbase in college station as well

You mean Shelby Metcalf? Billy Gillispie? Mark Turgeon? All did better at A&M than Billy Kennedy.

Gillispie had 2 tournament appearances in 3 years with 0 losing seasons.

Turgeon had 4 tournament appearances in 4 years with 0 losing seasons.

Kennedy, with more talent on his rosters than either Gillispie or Turgeon had 2 tournament appearances in 8 seasons with 2 losing seasons.
