I think that move serves them well coming into the SEC. what do you all think. More upside IMO than Kelly at LSU

Well... the last time we hired a successful defensive coordinator as coach, it didn't work out too badly at all. So I guess we'll see.....

No one knows if a good hire or not. Sure, he's a great coordinator but that's way different than managing an entire program and being the full face of a program. Can he hire the right pieces and allow those pieces to do thier job is the real question. I think the majority of OU fans are onboard with this though. I for one would take BV over a hundred Rileys at this point.

Seeing as he resisted other HC opportunities, going to OU will be pressure day 1.

People may not like it but at least B. Kelly is a proven winner and a good recruiter, BV can't even compare to Kelly

OUs forumula of heisman QB and no physicality on either side of the ball all those years they lost NC and CFP games obviously didn’t work. Getting a coach like BV that’s a top recruiter and emphasizes physical hard hitting football is probably the best shot OU has at winning in the SEC long term. Venables DL and LB pedigree alone is enough for me to like the hire. With lebby as OC and Caleb Williams being a freshman I think OU will be a playoff lock in 2023.

What? Venables is one of the top recruiters in CFB. Kelly isn’t even in the top 10.

BV is good but B. Kelly consistently gets great talent even working within the restrictions of ND and consistently fields a great team, a good portion of his guys are not big names you hear out of high school but continue to produce. BV might be great for OU but I just don't think you can compare the two.
