The NCAA has been very involved with LSU in this investigation this week. Smarts mother herself said he was cleared by the NCAA. LSU would have never moved forward without the ok from NCAA. Could more come out? That’s a whole other story.

LSU officials already questioned Smart and his mother, Melinda, about the reported wiretaps and any potential violations of NCAA rules. Skinner, the LSU general counsel, said NCAA investigators participated in those interviews.

And just because we haven't seen any official word from the NCAA doesn't mean LSU didn't run this over and over with NCAA staff/investigators to get assurances re: the status of Smart.

LSU has a long history of bending over backwards to appease the NCAA once our compliance folks become aware of a problem. This was a point of pride for most LSU fans until this year when many decided to go ALL IN on being outlaws.

Could more shoes drop? Absolutely. This isn't over by a long stretch.

Yeah, I doubt that!

Well, using context clues, I'm pretty sure it's a player. But, I had no idea before. I'd seen the name in some threads, but I thought it was another coach being mentioned with the other guy y'all are about to fire.

Investigating Smart since the report came out. You did see the report the NCAA was in town yesterday right? There is a reason.

They based their decision completely on what has been made public about the wiretaps. They spoke to his handlers. All they had to do was deny any knowledge of an offer.

The truth will be revealed in court and they will face the proper punishment. Until then, I'm glad we get to beat you at your best.

Doesnt mean they lead the investigation or made the decision(LSU says LSU cleared, not NCAA) but at least they were there in some capacity

quote:

The university also located two other people who might be the unnamed handler referenced in the wiretapped calls, Skinner said. Skinner didn't identify either by name but said they agreed to speak with the university.

This is interesting

I guess it doesn’t matter if Smart plays, all their wins will be vacated soon enough.

Wasn’t our coach caught on tap admitting to paying him?

That’s what everyone here keeps saying.

So it seems like he wouldn’t have been cleared.

If you haven’t noticed guys there are almost 50 other schools the NCAA has to worry about as well with this FBI investigation. I’m sure an entire week spent on Smart is about all the time they have baws

Can y’all go ahead and clear Wade too? I really don’t want the excuse out there when we win.
