And yet, Slive did offer up an alternative to the status quo at that time. You must admit that that's a pretty big deal for a commisioner at the top of the game to do. Delaney blew it.
The Rose Bowl is gonna turn out to be one huge burr up the B1G's arse as this goes forward. The national media is already seizing on this issue as it relates to Delaney.

I went to Penn State when we were an indy, I hate all the shitty Gator bowl types because it indicate our season sucked

Ok I'm back; I don't think Slive was doing the +1 model to help anyone else; he was worried about 2006 type of seasons where USC blew a game against an awulf UCLA team or UF never makes it to AZ.
And I still don't think the Rose is something you would want to give up. I grew up in TX but i feel like the Rose is the most powerful bowl there is

You would rather keep a bowl game that at the end of the day winning means nothing in favor of having a playoff system.. I am sure it means more to P10 or B10 teams than say an SEC fan but I think at some point you have to move on to bigger and better.

I don't think it's an either or honestly. In 2006 and 2007 the Big X was in the NCG and the Rose. Most likely, the Big X and Pac X champ will be in they playoff, and the Rose will be one of the Semis.
I want a playoff, but I also understand that money talks, and Delany knows it

I think Florida more than showed they deserved the 2006 NC, don't you? The score should have been 41-7 as Reggie Nelson was held during the Ginn return.
