What do you all think of ABC/ESPN just making the old BCS theme the "SEC on ABC" music

Stay in the Big 12.

Buy the rights to the music and intro from CBS. Nothing ESPN has ever put out will ever compare to it

Corporate sports media, and especially ESPN, doesn’t give two shits about what we want. How else can one explain Marty Smith or Beth Mowins?

It’s not bad.
Not sure what else better they will come up with.
I am hopeful that it will be some kinda backwoods banjo pickin.

Well now that SEC is basically owned by Disney, I would just go with "The Imperial March".
There are also some bangers on the Andor soundtrack; they could repurpose.

Im objective. I grew up of course on B12 football. When I heard that song I thought of one thing - The SEC. In no way did I connect it exclusively with CBS. That was in my mind and every other honest non-SEC fan the SEC theme song.
ESPN doesn’t have to buy it but they should. CBS will be trying to put cloths onto other conferences and find that the clothes are just too big to fit.

Hate to be the one to tell you guys this, but that CBS music was part of their football presentations before SEC was a staple on CBS.
I can remember it back into the early 90s for the Cotton Bowl.
I agree that it is synonymous with the SEC now, but it did not start that way.

ABC can trade CBS a few shite tier IPs, and they'd never notice they're gone.
Make this like the deal for Al Michaels and use old IP to grab the SEC on CBS music for the SEC.

everyone's attached to the intro music but the CBS SportsNetwork also uses it for thursday night games in the MWC and the MAC with these 2 on the call
the SEC should require espn broadcasting any SEC team on ABC or espn with the BCS intro theme - it's only fitting since the SEC won the inaugural BCS trophy.

every other game involving non-SEC teams gets whatever theme espn uses for CFB.

It'll take 3/4 of a single game in Norman for the rest of the SEC to wish they were deaf because of Boomer Sooner. Whatever ESPN plays at that point will sound like Mozart.

It still aggravates me that CBS did not make a competitive offer for the SEC in that time slot, after this present contract expires.
I know every network wanted the big ten but after Ohio St and Mich and perhaps Penn St who else in that conference draws that well?
Sankey put all of the SEC eggs in one basket with Disney. I still wonder of that was the wisest thing to do.

I bet they played it 30 times while losing 49-0 in Dallas this year. I heard about that many times in Norman in '97 when you lost 50-7.

No, it didn't. I was there during the blood bath, maybe 10 times. Band even quit on that day.
Back in 97... lol.
