3 Different SEC West Teams Have Won Multiple Titles in that span.

Georgia is the only team from the East to do it in that span.

Kids born the last time another team from the East won it are in middle school now.

These are not opinions. These are facts. Discuss how you wish.

Outside of 2009 Florida and 2017 and 2021 UGA, think the West was favored, and heavily so, in every game.

LSU and Bama have combined for ten of those. Really impressive for both schools.

I’m glad Ole Miss could contribute and give our other west teams a tough game like 1/3 of the time

Makes me feel proud to be a part of this streak

The state of Alabama combined for 10 of those. Very impressive. See how easy that was…

No pressure there, LSU! Just don’t let us down.

Yea bruh, we have a 1% chance of winning Saturday. If somehow that 1% comes to fruition it will be great for LSU fans. With our roster, this is a good time to say "we're just glad to be here". We did something unexpected, and it's been a successful season.

You could say that, but ultimately it is still a testament to how hard the west is to play through. Iron sharpens iron.

Kind of like combining with Wilt Chamberlain to score 102 points.

LSU and Alabama have combined for over half of all CFB national championships during the past 15 years (eight).

That being said, Vanderbilt and Alabama have also combined for almost half of all CFB national championships during the past 13 years (six).

The west had the better teams and may have been favored in all of them, except for last year.

Reminds me of one of my favorite baseball stats. Hank and Tommie Aaron hold the record for most MLB home runs by brothers at 768; 755 by Hank and 13 by Tommie.

It actually does no such thing. All it proves is there was one West team better than the best East team. Also, it shows, if you're not named Alabama, you're probably not going to win the west.

Congratulations, I guess?

No... not really.

It's just a statement on how good Bama has been.

Just like saying the east won 6 of the first 7 SECCG's is mainly saying how good Spurrier was at UF.

The two divisions were balanced from 1999-2008 (both being 5-5 through that stretch). LSU and UF were the dominant teams from each division during that period (Spurrier/Meyer for UF, Saban/Miles for LSU).

The reality is when Saban came to Bama and Meyer left Florida, there simply weren't any other elite SEC coaches at schools with the resources to win big for a quite a while. Richt was good, but not elite. Neither was miles or Malzahn... they were just good. Good coaches with elite resources can win a national title if things align... but an elite coach with elite resources can dominate like Saban did (twice... both at LSU and Bama).

UGA looks to have that with Smart now. Who knows, maybe LSU has it with Kelly or UT with Heupel (too early to tell for either). Saban is also getting closer to retirement. We likely aren't going to have the same level of dominance from one division because Bama is likely not going to be in a class by themselves like they have been for the last decade.
