Walt Disney World and ESPN reversed course on Thursday and said guests will be allowed to bring signs into the Magic Kingdom for College GameDay on Saturday.
The popular college football pregame show will be broadcast from the Magic Kingdom Saturday morning ahead of the matchup between Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes at Camping World Stadium Saturday night.
Fans expressed their displeasure when it was revealed that due to Disney policy, the signs that have become the shows trademark would not be allowed.
“Supporting the time-honored tradition of handheld signs during “College GameDay” broadcasts, we are making an exception for guests to bring college football signs to Magic Kingdom Park on Aug. 24 only.
Signs are only permitted in the broadcast viewing area until noon. After the broadcast, signs may be recycled in the park or returned to a vehicle or resort room,” a statement from ESPN said.
There will be no special admission to GameDay. Anyone hoping to see the show will need to purchase a ticket to the Magic Kingdom.
The ESPN set will be on the elevated train station on Main Street U.S.A.
Signs may not exceed 3 feet x 5 feet.
Guests bringing signs to the park will not be able to board the Epcot and Resort Monorail and will be screened at the transportation and ticket center or the Magic Kingdom bus loop.
