We're collectively state schools and land grant institutions, and I say that with pride. I don't know the history of why Vandy is in the SEC and a school like Georgia Tech is not. How are these queers in the SEC? Even Arky fits well, and maybe Mizzou. Vandy?

Because we need nerds too, not just jocks, you need to qualify as research institutions, get a certain number of nerds a year, I mean they are important for the academic side, they are probably tired of carrying the academic reputation of the league

Tech had an amazingly narcissistic coach named Bobby Dodd. Dodd didn't get his way so he took GT out of the sec.

There are 4 (maybe 5 now?) R1 institutions in the SEC that includes aTm. They aren't carrying anything.

(edit) Except private school trash from the east who aren't admitted to Ivys, and a Double A baseball team who underachieves annually.

In all honesty, Vanderbilt should leave the SEC if it wants to be competitive in football.

I just don't think that's their number one priority, which is fine.

PUBLIC Universities. Also I'm a bit skeptical about how US News ranks schools and how they're ranked, but there's not really another source with which to refute, so thank you for posting this. I'm sure it took some time to put together.

Nevertheless, none of this refutes my general points. There are actually 6 R1 institutions in the SEC and Vandy is not holding anything up academically. As far as my cursory search the SEC is behind the PAC12 and tied with the ACC for R1 institutions.

Vandy sucks at everything, except the sport they have have a huge aid advantage.

I’m all for Vandy being in the conference. Now if you want to swap UGA fir Georgia Tech I’m all fit it. They at least have a NC in the last 40 years.

frick it trade UGA for Georgia State
