Jimbo's Promise

There were big expectations placed on Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher when he agreed to lead the Aggies for a 10-year, $75 million guaranteed contract. That task begins with recruiting, and although Texas A&M was only able to finish 17th in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings for the 2018 class, Fisher says changes are coming quickly.

"We'll end up being one or two," Fisher told CBS Sports during the 2018 National Signing Day. "I'm talking about 10 guys that are right [there]. I'm talking about first-, second-round draft pick guys. There's some phenomenal players."

Fisher did not land any 247Sports Composite five-star players in 2018, but the Aggies were able to finish the 2018 class with 13 four-star prospects out of the full group of 23 signees. This year's class was headlined by safety Leon O'Neal Jr., who re-committed to the Aggies on Wednesday over offers from Clemson and Oklahoma.

Pay attention?
Best RB in the country just stood up A&M for their Super Bowl Party.
Behind both LSU and Bama in recruiting.
Plus UGA.
Doesn't sound like National Championships will be coming anytime soon.

Not like y'all know what a NC feels like anyway

A&M finished ahead of LSU in the composite. How’s it feel having the most overrated class in college football? Your “five star” safety has one other power 5 offer.

But I guess when you win one championship in 50 years, you get the benefit of the doubt.

Jimbo just hauled in the best recruiting class in Texas A&M history after only one full year on the job.

This thread doesn't make any sense.

He did promise them a top 2 class.
Not their best class in history

Don't lower the bar so low for aggy

That wasn't Jimbo's promise.

I get why a Bama thinks aggy shouldn't hold Jimbo accountable.

Because he also promised SEC and National Championships

I think LSU’s class is better, but LSU also has a long snapper and a kicker so that skews things a bit

Montgomery Hill. Why don't you go to a BDF board? I'm sure the 8 dwarfs have a fine little site you could annoy them on. Come back back after you join a power conference.

What the hell???? Let me guess: the Aggies rise in a competitive fashion both on the field and off makes you a little nutty. They've still got some ground to cover but yes they are obviously doing some things. He's delivering pretty quick in a tough, tough league. Example: Auburn is an after thought in this year's SEC recruiting fight. They were rated 6th but 6th was good enough for 11th nationally. And it has always been said that consistent top 10 classes every year make you talented enough to win it all. A&M is above Clemson and Ohio St in most rankings and top 5.

On the field they beat Clemson fair and square and yet a bad official's call took it. I know that sounds like an LSU whine but that is true. And they won the LSU game that they likely should have lost so they were 1-1 which was about right against those squads. That's a great start.

Sumlin did go 11-2 his first year for A&M.
Including a Top 5 Finish.

So I wouldn't use Jimbo's first year as a precursor for success

The Texas fans need to go away. We kicked your arse in recruiting up and down the list in-state this year. Get used to it. However, we play in the SEC so it is absolutely necessary to compete that we do so ...

Newsflash ... we have bigger fish to fry than Texas these days. We don't play in your weak conference that has very little drafted NFL talent. We also aren't going to play you again any time soon, so look for validation elsewhere.
