Failing to produce evidence of death threats cost former Florida coach Jim McElwain $5.4 million. Florida gives him a $7.5 million buyout. Was due $12.9 million.

I hope PETA wins the rest of that buyout from him in court.

Only $7.5 million? Damn. I hope he's able to find more work. I'd hate to see him and his family living on the streets.

Pretty crazy what one off the cuff remark at a press conference can cost you... jeez.

Is it a flat 7.5 with no offset? If so, it may not have cost him nearly that much should he land a new gig somewhere else.

I don’t buy it.

Are we expected to believe not a single Florida fan threatened his life?

No sale.

This... it likely cost him nothing if it's just 7.5 with no offset... easier for everyone to just make the situation go away.

Hold up. 7.5M? Our AD should be fired. He should've got 0.

He does, but he was going to owe them that, regardless... (2 or 3M remaining I think?)

That would be true if he was still coaching at Florida.

I’d say he got what he deserved.

Should have been worse.

I would litigate the shite out of that to where he wouldn't get a penny.

Stricklin is more generous than I would have been. So much for that $4 million buyout rumor.

If they were undefeated he could have violated that shark at the 50 yard line and he'd still be the coach.
