I heard it mentioned this weekend and I think its a no brainer, but would Georgia's 2nd string finish second in the SEC east?

Very few threads start out this way and end up well.

USC jr. would finish second, but UGA 2nd team would be a clear 3rd. Crazy how far UF and Tennessee have fallen

How could they finish second when Mizzou is going to finish first again? Sounds like they would probably finish 3rd.

The LOS would probably not hold up against other team's first stringers but our skill guys would be fine. Fields would be our QB, Holyfield at RB, some combo of Demetris Robertson and some others at receiver. That's still pretty formidable.

Our 2nd string could probably do fairly well, but the major problem is when we needed to sub and would then be bringing in our 3rd string. That would get us beat.

I think our 2nd team could keep things competitive with most of the teams, but they’d probably finish with a sub-.500 record. What makes UGA so good is our depth. I’m generally of the belief that most SEC teams have great starting 22’s, but what sets the elite teams apart are their depth and ability to rotate fresh legs.

Haha maybe so. I really hate it but the East is s@#*. It makes me worry about making it to the SECCG and not being tested enough to match up with BAMA for 4 quarters. On paper only two teams we play will come close to testing us all 4 quarters and that is LSU and AUB.

I questioned the love for SC before the season, I questioned it before the Georgia game and I certainly question it after the Georgia game. Your hypothetical may be correct but if so, what exactly am I missing about this SC team?

I'm not sold on them or any other team in the East enough to say they'd finish second.

In all seriousness, no. If they were consistently playing their 2nd and 3rd team instead of 1st and 2nd team they would not be nearly as good, I think even UGA fans would tell you that.

Taking nothing away from how good they are now, but the rest of the SEC east isn't THAT bad. They aren't Arkansas level bad lol.

this is probably the correct answer, but our 2nd string would be a darkhorse at least because we'd have a starting QB that any team would want in J Fields

I believe it's possible, but not probable. Seems like most people think the East sucks, but I believe any team in the East is capable of winning against UGA's 2nd team.

Our second team would win the East. We are better coaches and most of our 2nd and 3rd teams 4 and 5 star players that are underclassmen.

Kirby has played down to 5th and 6th team in our blow outs and our 1st and 2nd teamers are basically in constant rotation so the 2nd team would dominate.

Cade Mays at LT
Sawlyer at LG
Hill at RG
Kendall Baker at RT

Thats the foundation of a pretty strong OL that could compete in the East. Our offense would still put up points.

Defensively, we might be Purdue. But our offensive depth is ridiculous.
