…and I’m talking to those who actually know the program’s financial position. This is not a troll attempt. I’m not throwing shade here.

Everyone knows that coaching at LSU is a dream job for a lot of really good coaches. You have a winning tradition, a rabid fan base and more talent per capita of any other state in the nation. On top of that, you have first shot on all of that talent.

The question is, what is your budget? Can you get anyone you want, or are your hands tied? Serious answers only please.

No one here knows exactly what the budget is, but it is high. No, they can’t get anyone they want. That’s true for every school.

100% chance the next hire will be based on ethnicity rather than accomplishments so LSU is fricked either way as long as SJWs are running the show.

Ed has a substantial buyout, but he is making it very easy for the purse string holders to negotiate that down to something more reasonable. He has not covered his arse in many of his off-the-field escapades and I suspect there is damning evidence floating around in the athletic administration building that will force his hand in agreeing to accept less money

If we fire Orgeron , its safe to say money wont be an issue.

And hes 100% getting fired. His buyout is huge. Him getting fired would mean Woodward is about to drop some serious cash.

That dude knows how to hire.

Program brings in top 5 revenue of all teams in the country. Big Boosters pay for contract buyouts and LSU has enough Big Money donors to take care of that. The only time there's a set back in things like this is when politicians get involved. The state as a whole is rather poor and the tax revenue is mismanaged to say the least. So sometimes they don't like the appearance that LSU is throwing around Money when the state budget is being cut...even though it has nothing to do with it, because Football is a separate entity.

Just going by what some of the serious LSU posters on tRant say, they have the money to get rid of the O coaching staff. It’s getting the money men to trust the AD to fire the O bunch and hire the best possible head coach going forward. That will cost millions. How many millions we are not sure of.
The only question I have is did the same person renew GusBus’s contract that renewed O’s contract. A lot of money was pissed away on those two that didn’t have to be.

This is what burned us in trying to axe Miles in 2015. Even the university president couldn't accept that the athletic department at LSU is an entirely self-sufficient entity. So loaded they even pour money into the academic side of the school.

1BTF is very correct. Money won't be an issue. It's keeping politicians and suits out of athletics that is the issue

BradPitt is a troll and you said troll in your post and so he came to troll. Serious answer from non LSU fan: they can’t just get whoever they want. I’m sure they could pay a handsome price. Who’s out there though? They are gonna fire another coach that won a championship in 2019 and hire who?

Brady and Burrow had more to do with them winning than Farmer Fran. If either one isn’t at LSU I don’t think they win the Natty that year.

Bo Pelini is getting $4 million for sitting on his couch. Yes, it cost that much to buy him out of his contract. Money is not an issue right now. It takes a series of bad hires and buying out entire staffs on multi year contracts before financial constraints could impact things.

Ask this question again if the next coach is a disaster, and LSU is conducting another search in 2024.

I got crushed on tRant for suggesting Wokism will handcuff Woodward.

Would be a shame to lure wood away for him not to be able to do his job.

Woodward has a lengthy list to get through baw. It’s impossible for us to tell you who were going to hire right now. He’s going to be very thorough and it will be a long process to the point of annoying. But this is the biggest hire of his career so far and he’s got to get it right. He’s going to find the right fit and things are not going to stay like this in BR for very long at all. Deep down you all know this. I don’t know why I have to keep saying it.

The athletic foundation is separate from the university in that it is funded by Tiger Athletic Foundation which is private money. While they took a hit last year, it’s still flush with cash and nothing gathers financial support like an embarrassing product and people’s want to change it.

Is LSU’s budget limitless? No. But they have enough money to compete with the salaries of the top coaches.

If Alleva was still here, this would be a huge concern. Where that guy wasn't screwing up he was abdicating authority. That's why F King seemed to be in the thick of things, because Alleva was an empty suit.

I think Woodward is savvy enough to not leave a power vacuum and get the guy he wants based on his criteria rather than catering to the politicians/facebook moms. Time will tell though.

We can get who we want. Woodward knows who to call and what to say to get the money for buyouts and then to pay the nee coaching staff
