Seems like Frank Martin is staying another year

Friday, 1:24 p.m.: I have spoken with multiple sources within the last hour with regards to Frank Martin and his status as head coach at South Carolina. The Board of Trustees does not want to terminate the contract of Martin and have to pay the buyout that is north of $6 million. The BOT wants to keep Martin and give him another year. Athletics director Ray Tanner is meeting with members of the Board of Trustees this afternoon (it may be going on currently as I write this). There should be an ultimate decision very soon on the direction of the program going forward. Probably today, perhaps tomorrow. That’s what I have right now.

I heard Ray Tanner stared at himself in the mirror for 30 minutes on the morning he intended to fire Frank, and he kept repeatedly telling himself “you can do this!”
Then when Frank entered his office, Ray let out a string of nervous farts and immediately folded because he’s a chicken shite AD who lets everyone on the BOT interfere with his job.

Sad to see. Another year or two of no chance at the NCAAT with Martin at the helm. This just delays SC bringing in someone new to give a new coach the chance of turning things around.

I have never understood the appreciation for Bruce Weber.
Guy inherited all of his best talent from Self when he took over at Illinois and is only good for 1 decent year out of 5 at KSU at best, which is tough when your arch rival (who doesn't even consider KSU their biggest rival) is constantly running the show in basketball every year.

Good choice. South Carolina got hit pretty hard this season to the point it makes it where you have to keep him.

Frank is just a symptom. Tanner is the disease. There is no reason SCar should be failing at all 3 big sports. You cocks have my sympathy.

I know baseball is the least of the big 3 sports. But man, I miss spending a hot spring afternoon at a South Carolina SEC game knowing there was a 90% chance we would look great and win. I remember in like 2010 or 2011, we had to use a deep on the depth chart relief pitcher as an emergency outfielder, and we were still great.

I haven’t been following along but what happened to the basketball program? It seemed like things were going well, the coach was doing those “tough guy” speeches that everyone liked etc. Did his approach start to wear thin on the players?

False we were going to fire him, but pro frank state congress got involved and told the BOT that the school wouldn't get money for a new medical school if they fired frank
